Intraoral welding for stabilization of dental implants

With every surgery we all wish a successful outcome. However, there are possible complications & risks associated. Same applies for the dental implant surgery as well. Even when placed with superior dexterity there are still 1% chances of implant failure due to micromotion & stress exerted on dental implants during the phase of healing, especially in ridges with deficient bone. Henceforth, good implant fixation & primary stability are the chief objective that enable immediate loading on the day of surgery itself. Inclusion of intraoral welder allows achieving this goal via which titanium bars can be welded on the implant abutments. In order to avoid the likelihood of errors or distortion due to impressions, the procedure can be performed directly in the patient’s mouth.

Benefits of Intraoral welder Use of intraoral welding technique is a speedy & efficient solution appropriate for either immediate or delayed loading to deliver partial & full arch restorations.

Benefits include: Increased patient satisfaction due to immediate restorations. Reduced treatment time. Appropriate procedure to achieve higher & stronger stability during the healing phase in order to counteract the forces exerted by tongue, lips & cheek muscles. Predictable & safe procedure for immediate implant rehabilitation in augmented ridges as well. Reduced risks of fractures on temporary restoration: because rigid splinting & temporary titanium framework reduces the stress exerted on the temporaries.

What’s the need of this concept ? The concept of intraoral welding was introduced in order to reduce the patient’s treatment visits, to avoid second stage surgery & deliver prosthesis immediately to fulfill esthetic, functional & psychological well being of the patient. Also , the studies evaluate the long term success & high predictability of intraorally welded titanium bar especially in cases of immediately loaded dental implants.

Procedure Different procedures of fabrication can be taken into account for this distinctive concept of prosthetic restoration: Implant level temporary restorations Abutment level restorations

Once the implant placement is completed, the abutments to be welded are placed. Then, bending, aligning & intraoral welding of titanium wire is initiated. Intraoral welding unit allows one to connect titanium bar onto the abutment with precision to achieve an optimum weld.

Extraorally welded retentions are added to the framework.

The framework is finalized & opaque coated & this completes the restoration.
