The difference between Drama and Novel Novel 1- depends on description. 2- Many actors 3- published in a book 4- divided into chapters Drama 1- depends on monologue and dialogue 2- limited actors 3- limited settings 4- performed on stage 5- divided into acts and scenes

The word Drama is a Greek word which means “ to act” Drama is classified into three types { comedy, tragedy and tragicomedy} Comedy: is a form of drama that’s intended to amuse and ends happily

Elements of Comedy: 1- a happy ending 2- death and rebirth { when characters are rescued after being close to death} 3- friendship 4- love and marriage 5- supernatural characters ( spirits, ghosts)

Tragedy : a serious play where the hero suffers greatly, it usually ends sadly with the hero defeated or dead.

Tragicomedy: a play which is both funny and sad Dramatic Terms: 1- Monologue: an oral speech in which only one person speaks 2- soliloquy: a speech of a character in a play delivered while the speaker is alone on stage. The purpose of a soliloquy is to make the audience aware of the character’s thoughts and feelings. 3- Dramatic Irony: It is often the words or acts of a character in a play carry a meaning unknown to himself but understood by the audience.

3- Aside technique : a remark made by a character in a play and intended to be heard by the audience and not by the other characters on the stage.
