The Home Tab is by far most important tab in Microsoft Office Word. It is used to perform many of the common tasks such as changing fonts, cutting and pasting text and images into documents, changing paragraph formats, applying styles, and editing text.

The Insert Tab is used to insert different features such as tables, pictures, clip arts, shapes, charts, page number, word art, headers and footers, smart arts, charts, hyperlinks, bookmark, equations, symbols and a signature line into a document.

The Page Layout Tab holds all the options that allow you to arrange your document pages just the way you want them. You can set margins, apply themes, control of page orientation and size, add sections and line breaks, display line numbers, and set paragraph indentation and lines.

You can add a footnote to your document from the References tab. It contains resources for researchers and anyone in the professional field. The References Tab allows you to now create a table of contents, footnotes, citations, cross‐references, select MLA or APA or ISO formats and so on. You can also turn your Works Cited into a collection of records and use them in the future.

Each individual tab is divided into groups. Under the Mailings Tab, each group is used to perform different steps in the mail merge process. The Mailings tab can also be used to create Mail Merges. It is also used to create envelops or labels, write and insert fields or used to see the preview result

Spell Check can now be found in the Review tab. You will also find Word Translation tools, a Track Changes tool, a Thesaurus tool and so on. The review tab is useful in number of ways, for instance you can use it proofing your document, adding or removing comment and tracking changes among other things in a document.

This tab is used to display a document in different ways within the Microsoft Word window. This tab enables you to switch between Normal or Master page, and single page or two page spread views. This tab also gives you control over showing boundaries, guides, rulers, and other layout tools, zooming the size of your view of the publication and managing the publisher windows you have open
