What is red cross The Red Cross is a voluntary humanitarian organization having a network of branches throughout the world, providing relief in times of disasters or emergencies and promotes health & care of the vulnerable people and communities.

When was red cross celebrated for the first time May 8, 1948 The first 'International Red Cross Day, was celebrated on May 8, 1948. The official title of the day changed over time and became 'World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day' in 1948.

Who invented it The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement started in 1863 and was inspired by Swiss businessman  Henry Dunant . The suffering of thousands of men on both sides of the Battle of Solferino in 1859 upset Dunant. Many were left to die due to lack of care.

Aim of red cross day World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is a time to celebrate the spirit of humanitarianism and recognize the individuals who make a difference in their communities.
