It's Time to Say Goodbye — But Not to God A Farewell Sermon for Students Acts 20:36–38 “When Paul had finished speaking, he knelt down and prayed.”
The Emotion of Goodbye Goodbyes remind us that something meaningful happened. Form 2 & 3: Leaving for home Form 4: Remaining for KCSE Ecclesiastes 3:1 — 'To everything there is a season.'
Main Thought Every goodbye should teach us three things: 1. Look back with gratitude 2. Look within with honesty 3. Look forward with faith
Look Back with Gratitude 2 Timothy 4:7 — 'I have fought the good fight...' Can you say you’ve done your part? What story will you tell when your time comes? Story: A farmer reaps what he planted in discipline, not laziness. Galatians 6:7 — 'A man reaps what he sows.'
Look Within with Honesty Acts 20:28 — 'Keep watch over yourselves...' Dangers: wasted time, early relationships, ignoring correction Proverbs 6:10–11, Song of Solomon 2:7, 1 Corinthians 6:18, Proverbs 12:1, Hebrews 12:11 Story: Student who ignored advice and faced regret.
Correction Is Protection 'Correction is not rejection; it is protection.' Story: Bridge builder ignored cracks until collapse. Lesson: Don’t ignore small warnings — they save big futures.
Look Forward with Faith Deuteronomy 31:8 — 'The Lord Himself goes before you.' Form 4s: Study, pray, trust God (Isaiah 41:10) Form 2 & 3: Go home as ambassadors (Matthew 5:16) Story: Girl prayed before exams — not for marks, but for peace. Psalm 37:5 — 'Commit your way to the Lord.'
Prayer and Blessing 'Lord, thank You for these students. Bless Form 4s for KCSE. Keep Form 2 & 3 pure and wise. Let none say goodbye to You.' Numbers 6:24–26 — 'The Lord bless you and keep you.'
Final Words Goodbye means: God be with you. Go — not in fear, but in faith. Go — not in regret, but in gratitude. Go — not to forget, but to live the lessons. 2 Corinthians 13:11 — 'Encourage one another...'
Closing Quote 'Don’t waste your youth trying to look grown — grow your heart so your future won’t be wasted youth.' — Principal’s Farewell Wisdom
