2. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919. A large peaceful crowd had gathered at the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar Punjab, British India To protest against the Rowlett act When the colonel Reginald Edward Harry Dyer got the information about the meeting. He was furious and filled with rage. Colonel Dyer arrived at the Bagh with a group of troops and killed over 1500 innocent people.

3. DID YOU KNOW? 1. PM Modi inaugurated renovated Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar memorial complex. On August 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the people to witness the inauguration. PM Modi said that it “would display the massacre of April 1919 and instill a spirit of gratitude and reverence towards the martyrs”.

Colonel Reginald Dyer was shot dead on 13 March, 1940, by a man named Udham Singh, a member of the revolutionist Ghadar party who was on a mission of revenge for the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. 3. The last known survivor of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, Shingara Singh, died in Amritsar on June 29, 2009, at the age of 113.

5. Many people died by jumping in this well. About 130 bodies were recovered from this well. This is the wall from which the people tried to jump across and some bullet points are still to this date marked.
