02 WORK EXPERIENCE
PROJECTS SCHEDULE Mar. 13 - April 18 Apr. 19 - May. 26 Jun . 26 - Jul. 28 CCTV INSTALLATION AT SPAR CCTV INSTALLATION AT SEC. SCHOOL FIBRE OPTICS AT OLAM AGRI. MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG
CCTV INSTALLATION AT SPAR We surveyed the building and determined the amount of CAT-6 Cables, CCTV Cameras that would be necessary for the work. PHASE 1 We started replacing old cables with new ones and set up the new network. We put more than 100 cameras up. We replaced faulty switches and NVR (Network Video Recorder) PHASE 2 Troubleshooting was done to ensure all cameras put in place were working optimally. PHASE 3
CCTV INSTALLATION AT SEC SCHOOL AT IKOTUN After getting the physical diagram for the CCTV cabling, we drew CAT-6 cables, ensuring proper length. PHASE 1 Using fishing tapes we got the cables from their locations into the ceiling where they were all passed into the server room, using pipes, junction boxes to ensure they were all protected PHASE 2 All CCTV cameras were well placed and the switch in the server room was placed and once everything was set, the work was done PHASE 3
FIBRE OPTICS INSTALLATION AT OLAM AGRI We received the network diagram from the IT Staff at Olam Agri. After which we purchased outdoor fibre cables, media converters and some CAT-6 cables PHASE 1 We built the network system to enable communication from the mill to the factory. Also, we had to splice fibre cables using the splicing machine to connect fibre cables and used patch panels to ensure cables got to their destinations PHASE 2 Once this was done, what was next was to run the remaining cables as depicted by the network diagram. After all this, the IP phones and cameras were working perfectly. PHASE 3
03 SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED
LINKAGE OF WORK TO THEORY APPLICATION OF CONCEPTS Principles of communication EEG 413, Network design, Signals and Systems EEG 213 SAFETY My work in ensuring the safety of the systems we installed relates to theoretical knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance, FIBRE OPTICS My experience with fiber optics connections aligns with the theoretical understanding of optical communication, and signal modulation. NETWORK AND COMMUNICATION M y work in networking, including the use of Cat-6 cables, switches, and NVRs made me gain p ractical insights into how data flows within a network and the importance of efficient communication.
04 CONCLUSION The internship at Mutotech Nig Ltd provided a comprehensive learning experience, bridging academic knowledge with practical application The projects undertaken enabled me acquire a range of skills, including network cabling, camera installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. This has made me well prepare for future endeavors in telecommunications and security systems.
