Cardiovascular/stamina-is the ability to exercise the entire body over a long period of time, requires a strong heart, healthy lungs and blood vessels to supply the body with oxygen. Somatotype- refers to a person’s body composition and the size and shape of a persons can affect his ability to perform a particular activity. The three body types are: Endomorph Mesomorph Ectomorph Flexibility – or suppleness is the greatest range of movement possible at a joint. This reduces injuries and stretching before and after exercises also reduce risk of injuries Muscular strength-strength is the maximum force that can be developed within a muscle or group of muscles during a single maximum contraction. 3 types of muscles strength: static, explosive , dynamic. Muscular endurance- is the ability to contract muscles over a long period of time. People with good muscle endurance can avoid fatigue and it can be developed with weight training.
Skill-Related Fitness This includes training to improve agility, balance, coordination, speed, reaction time and power .They help an athlete improve performance in their sport or activity.
Agility– is the ability to change direction quickly and accurately while the body is in motion. Balance – is the awareness of the body’s position at anytime and is the ability to retain the center of mass above the base of support when stationary or moving. Coordination – is the ability to use your senses together with your body parts, or to use two or more body parts together Speed – is the ability to perform a movement or cover a distance in a short period of time. Reaction time – is the ability to react quickly what you see, hear or feel. Power - is the ability to perform a maximum effort in a short period of time. POWER=STRENGTH x SPEED
