2. PIVOT JOINT CHARACTERISTICS:- Helps in the movements as through it pivots on an axis. In these type of joints one bone shows the rotatory movements on another bone which remains fixed. POSITION IN THE BODY:- The point where the first vertebra joints the skull .

3. HINGE JOINT CHARACTERISTICS:- Enables movement to one direction like a hinge POSITION IN THE BODY:- The knee and elbow joint

4. BALL & SOCKET JOINT CHARACTERISTICS :- Most movable joints, It allows movement in all planes, in this type one of the bones forms a cup like socket into which fits the ball like head of the other bone POSITION IN THE BODY :- Shoulder Joints, Hip Jionts

5. GLIDING JOINTS CHARACTERISTICS :- In these joints one bone glides slightly over the flat surface of the other, In these joints two bones slide upon each other thus permitting only back and forth and side to side movements. POSITION IN THE BODY :- The joints of wrist and ankle .
