"His first trip abroad and his secret
mission to observe keenly the life and
culture, Languages and customs,
industries amd Government and laws of
the European nations in Order to
prepare himself of the mighty task of
liberating his oppressed people from
Spanish tyranny".

Before of Rizals secret departure he
wrote a farewell to his beloved
parents and another one for his
sweetheart Leonor Rivera,it was
delivered shortly after he sailed
away.

Rizal left the Philippines for the first time going to Spain.
Rizal boarded the Spanish streamer Salvador bound for Singapore.
He uses the Name Jose Mercado in his passport.

His next article was entitled "LOS VIAJES" (TRAVEL ) and followed by
"REVISTA DE MADRID" (REVIEW OF MADRID)

Rizal moved into abroad in order to continue his medical studies.
Rizal enrolled at the Universidad Central de Madrid.
Rizal took the course of Medicine and Philosophy and Letters.
while waiting for classes to begin, Rizal enrolled in the academy Fine arts of San
Fernando for painting and travelled to various historical sites and museum

Aside from Jose Rizal's studies and other
art lesson, he had the opportunity to
meet Ortiga Y Perez, the daughter of
Don Pablo who is the mayor of Manila
Rizal fell in love with Consuelo, but because
Eduardo de lete was courting Consuelo, he did
not pursue his feelings for Consuelo and instead
he wrote a poem which showed his
administration to this lady.

Rizal joined the Circulo Hispano
Filipino .
He wrote Mi Piden Versos.
He also joined the Masonic lodge
ACACIA.

JOSE RIZAL FINISH HIS MEDICAL
EDUCATION AT THE AGE OF 24. HE WAS
CONFERRED THE DEGREE OF LICENTIATE
IN MEDICINE. THE NEXT YEAR HE PASSED
ALL HIS SUBJECTS LEADING TO DOCTORS
OF MEDICINE BUT WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET
HIS DOCTORS DIPLOMA IN 1887 FOR HE
WASN'T ABLE TO PAY CORRESPONDING
FEES.
HE WAS ALSO AWARDED THE DEGREE OF
LICENTIATE IN PHILOSOPHY AND LETTERS BY
UNIBERSIDAD CENTRAL DE MADRID WITH THE
RATING OF "EXCELLENT" (SOBRESALIENTE)

Rizal in Paris
AFTER RIZAL COMPLETED HIS MEDICAL COURSE AND BECAME A
PHYSICIAN HE SLSO TRAVELLED TO PARIS
RIZAL TRAVELED TO PARIS AND VISITED THE DIFFERENT TOURIST
SPOT IN THE CITY.
NOVEMBER 1885- RIZAL WAS LIVING IN PARIS, WHERE HE SOJOURNED
FOR ABOUT FOUR MONTHS.
RIZAL WORKED AS DR. LOUIS DE WECKERTS ASSISTANT.
RIZAL WAS WELL KNOWN FRENCH OPTHALMOLOGIST

Rizal was mistaken by the Parisian as
Japanese,thats why the prices of his
food, lodging and entrance fees were
higher than those of other nationalities.
In a letter to his family ,he started that
"Paris is Europe's most expensive
capital.
He could not afford the cost of living in
Paris so he decided to go back to
Madrid.

January 1,1886
Rizal wrote a letter to his parents. The letter
revealed that Rizal was Rapidly improved his
knowledge of Opthalmology.
February 1886, after acquiring enough experience as
an opthalmologist in Dr. Weckerts clinic Rizal's
reluctantly left Paris and travelled to Germany

November 1886, Rizal arrived in Berlin. He was
Enchanted by the Scientific atmosphere and the absence
of racial prejudice in Berlin.
Rizal met Dr. Feodor Jagor, a great scientist and author of
Travels in the Philippines.
He also met Dr. Rudolf Virchow, a famous German
Anthropologist.

To gain further knowledge in Opthalmology
To further his studies of Sciences and languages
To observe the economic and political conditions of
the German nation
To associate with famous German scientist and
scholars.
To published his novel, Noli Me Tangere
