What Is Junk Food? Junk food" is a term used to describe food that is high in calories from sugar and/or fat, and possibly sodium, but with little dietary fiber, protein, vitamins, minerals, or other important forms of nutritional value.

Side Effects of Eating Junk Food Deteriorated Skin Like every other food, your skin experiences the effects of junk food as well. The carb-rich foods, greasy food, etc. o cause acne. Weak Bones The fast-food possessing high carbs and sugar tend to increase the acid levels in the mouth that further leads to broken and damaged tooth enamel, hence, leading to cavities. The fast-food tends to cause weakened bones.

Cardiovascular problems One of the major detrimental side effects of junk food consumption is increased cardiovascular disease risks. Eating high amounts of red meat and sugary treats may trigger inflammation, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke. Liver disease Unhealthy foods such as junk food combined with a sedentary lifestyle can cause liver damage, leading to cirrhosis and increasing the risk of liver cancer.

Depression Food not only affects your body, but also impacts your mind. Junk foods changes the chemical composition of your brain. This change makes your body more dependent on such junk foodstuffs and craves them more and more. Causes hormonal imbalance in the body leading to wanting more of those junk foods.

Diabetes Junk foods are usually high in added salt, which can contribute to high blood pressure linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. High levels of triglycerides due to the high content of trans and saturated fats. High levels of triglycerides can raise your risk for type 2 diabetes. Obesity Consuming energy-dense and nutrient-poor foods, such as junk food, is associated with an increased risk of obesity.

Cancer A poor diet that is high in fats, sugars, salts, and kilojoules, has been linked to a higher risk of many cancers. A higher risk of stomach, colorectal, and respiratory tract cancers. .Erosion Of Teeth The junk food that you eat dreadfully affects the enamel of your teeth in the long run. If you lose your enamel then fixing your teeth is completely impossible.

Indigestion & heart burn Fried, greasy, and fatty foods can all cause heartburn and prevent the lower esophageal sphincter from fully tightening; this creates an opening for stomach acids to flow upward. Greasy, heavier foods are also harder to digest; so the stomach empties more slowly, which can trigger heartburn

Junk foods are loaded with fats, sugar & salt which are unhealthy to eat. In comparison, healthy foods have a low amount of these nutrients. In fact, you will find that fat, sugar & salt are never present together in natural foods.

At the end before you grab those chips or give in to your fizz drink cravings, think about all the harmful effects of junk food that affect not only your body but also your mind. While you may have less time to prepare and cook meals at home, take that extra step in the interest of your health
