About Jurong Port
Multi-purpose facilities at the main terminal enable the loading and
unloading of:
• Dry and liquid bulk cargo
• General cargo, including heavy-lift project cargo
• Containerised cargo
Besides the main terminal, Jurong Port operates the Offshore Marine Centre, a multi-user
waterfront facility providing port services to companies engaged in fabrication of marine
and offshore equipment. It also operates two seperate lighter terminals catering to vessel
crafts that provide supplies to ships calling at Singapore.
Internationally, Jurong Port operates two joint venture terminals in China – Rizhao in
Shandong province, and Yangpu on Hainan island. It is currently exploring other joint
venture terminals in the region.
Headquartered in Singapore, Jurong Port is a leading international multi-purpose port
operator handling general, bulk and containerised cargo.
Jurong Port began operations in 1965 as a general and bulk cargo port, serving the
development needs of Singapore’s Jurong industrial estate. Today, its main gateway
terminal in Singapore welcomes more than 17,000 vessels each year from both the region
and internationally.
The main terminal has 32 berths capable of serving the varied needs of the maritime
industry. Its berths, with drafts ranging from 5 to 16 metres, can accommodate vessels of
up to 150,000 deadweight tonnes. Within the terminal, there are 174,000 square metres of
warehouse facilities and one of the largest common-user cement terminals in the world.

In 2012, Jurong Port was awarded the Singapore Quality Class (SQC)
by SPRING Singapore, a government agency dedicated to help build
trust in Singapore’s products and services. The award recognizes
Jurong Port’s quality management in the seven dimensions of
Leadership, Planning, Information, People, Processes, Customers
and Results.
The Jurong Port Administration Building, where the company’s
headquarters is based, was awarded the Green Mark Platinum
Award by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore
in 2012. This award recognizes Jurong Port’s success in creating an
environment-friendly work space.
From 2008 to 2011, Jurong Port received the AFSCA Award for the “Best Container
Terminal Operator in Asia (under 1-million TEUs category)”.
For the use of technology, the port received the “Most Innovative Use of Infocomm
Technology” (Private Sector) – Merit Award at the Singapore National Infocomm Awards
2010. For its safety management, Jurong Port won the “Achievement in Safety” Award
at the Lloyd’s List Asia Awards 2009.
Jurong Port has won numerous accolades since its corporatisation
on 1 January 2001.
The port was named the “Asia Pacific Multi-Purpose Terminal
Operator of the Year (Asia Pacific)” by Frost & Sullivan for three
consecutive years, 2010 – 2012. This award recognises Jurong
Port’s achievements in managing the shift in consumer demand, sustaining innovation,
retaining talent, focusing on strategic transactions, addressing environmental concerns
and ensuring regulatory compliance.

General Cargo Handling
Jurong Port’s general cargo berths handle vessels that carry a diverse range of cargo,
including steel products, project cargo and machinery. The berths, with drafts of up to
16 metres, are supported by well-developed infrastructures such as wide aprons, open
storage yards and modern warehouses.
Our port is equipped with two roll-on roll-off mechanical ramps for berthing of landing
crafts at all tide levels. There is also a craft terminal for berthing of wooden crafts. For large-
sized and heavy-lift project cargo, the port is equipped with modern handling equipment
for cost-effective cargo handling.

shore movements as well as wide wharf
apron areas for loading and discharging
operations. In addition, the port has ample
column-free warehouses within its Free
Trade Zone. Dedicated warehouses are
accredited by the London Metal Exchange
(LME) for the storage of traded metals.

Jurong Port’s bulk cargo berths handle cement, sugar, as well as other dry and liquid cargo.
One of the world’s largest dedicated common-user cement facility is located within our
port, where more than 90% of cement throughput into Singapore is processed. The
cement berths are equipped with a comprehensive network of conveyors, including
common and dedicated unloaders, to ensure non-pollutive and efficient handling of
cement. With unloaders operating at a maximum rated capacity of 800 tonnes per hour,
bulk cement is speedily discharged from vessels directly to customers’ storage facilities.
This translates into faster vessel turnaround, increase in shipment deliveries and cost
savings on stevedoring charges.
Other non-cement cargoes like copper slag, furnace slag and limestone can also be handled
using specialised unloading cranes. The liquid bulk berths are equipped with pipelines to
move liquid cargoes such as lubricating oils to and from our customers’ facilities located
near the port.

Jurong Port’s container terminal commenced operations in 2001.
The terminal is equipped with modern equipment capable of handling a full range of
containers. The container terminal has consistently won votes of confidence from the
industry for its efficiency, productivity, and customised services and facilities.

The Offshore Marine Centre (OMC),
operated and managed by Jurong Port
since 2011, is a purpose-built facility
that offers an integrated suite of marine
terminal-related services targeting
the offshore and marine industry. The
OMC provides a common-user wharf
infrastructure that allows companies to
load and discharge heavy and oversized
structures, modules and project cargoes in a safe and effective manner.
OMC provides a ‘single-stop’ solution to companies that require quick turnaround of vessel
operations, open yard support services and end-to-end logistics solutions. Leveraging
on its extensive port management experience and world class infrastructure, Jurong
Port delivers a cost-effective, industry – specific solution that caters to the specialized
requirements of users at OMC.

for super heavy loading of up to 165 kN/sqm

Jurong Port’s ship supply gateways at Marina South Wharves and Penjuru Terminal are
integral parts of the supply chain which link suppliers on shore with end-users at sea.
The terminals cater to more than 650,000 tonnes of cargo and 50,000 lighter vessel calls
handling ship spares, supplies, and provisions that are exported out to ship in anchorage.
Supported by a strong network of ship suppliers, chandlers, and boat operators, the
terminals operate around the clock, providing efficient, safe and reliable service to meet
the needs of the shipping community.

Jurong Port entered its first overseas joint venture in April 2011 with Rizhao Port Group.
Located in China, Shandong Province, Rizhao Port is a hub port for the handling of various
types of bulk cargo.
The joint venture terminal “Rizhao Jurong Port Terminals” established by Jurong Port
and Rizhao Port Group manages and operates 7 bulk cargo berths. Rizhao Jurong Port
Terminals handles mainly woodchips, grains, tapioca and edible oils.
To enhance the storage capacity of the port, construction of another 24 silos is in progress.
This will enhance the grain storage capacity from 227,000 tons to 467,000 tons.

Yangpu Port is one of the busiest deep-water ports in Hainan Province, China. In 2012,
it handled 8.85 million tons of cargoes, including 360,000 TEUs of container cargo. It is
the main port serving the Yangpu Economic Development Zone, a rapidly developing
industrial zone in north-west Hainan.
SDIC Jurong Yangpu Port is a joint venture by Jurong Port and SDIC to manage and operate
a multi-purpose port for general bulk cargo such as coal, iron ore, steel, sugar, project
cargo and containers.

General and Bulk Cargo Management System (GBMS)
The GBMS is a system that employs state-of-the-art technology to enable efficient general
and bulk cargo operations.

of vessel and cargo activities

JP-Online
JP-Online is a web portal that integrates the flow of information between port users
and Jurong Port. The portal provides quick and easy access to customers to perform
transactions like berth applications, cargo declarations, storage applications, and shipment
deliveries 24 hours a day.

Container Terminal Management Services (CTMS)
CTMS leverages on IT and engineering technologies to automate the port’s container
operations. With its planning capabilties, the system provides customers with greater
flexibility and enhances the port’s performance.
The key features and benefits are:
• Centralised control centre to handle operations
• UNEdifact EDI Messaging support
• Improved overall utilisation of berth and yard space
• Prompt and real time processes for planning and allocation of container ground slots,
vessel berths and monitoring of vessel productivity.
Integrated Control Room (ICR)
The ICR is a one-stop Control Room to monitor vessel operations, gate operations,
yard and warehouse activities and security within the port.

At Jurong Port, we are committed to safety, security and the environment. We strive to
ensure that every port user takes personal responsibility for health and safety.
We are registered as a Bizsafe pioneering company and a member of the Workplace Safety
and Health (WSH) Committee (Logistics and Transportation) in Singapore. We work closely
with the relevant government authorities to actively promote higher safety standards
amongst port users.
The port is security – compliant under the International Ship and Port Facility Security
(ISPS) Code, and meets the maritime security standards under the code. To promote
environmental protection, the port has initiated a long term go-green programme to
enhance energy efficiency and to reduce our carbon footprint.
