2. BENEFITS TO THE BABY KMC reduce apnea and risk of infection to the baby. KMC help in early discharge of babies from NICU.

3. Duration of KMC The minimum duration of a Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) session should be one hour , but it can be extended as long as the mother is comfortable . Session that last less than one hour should be avoided because frequent handling may be stressful for the baby. KMC should be repeated at least three times a day for 1–3 hours, or at least 30 minutes if the mother has a disease or other condition . Total 8 hours a day or as long as possible. 

4. Continue KMC to postnatal ward and home. Increase duration up to 24 hours a day interrupted only for changing diapers. Duration of KMC
