KINDS OF ECOSYSTEM Natural Ecosystem Man-made Ecosystem
1. Natural Ecosystem Operate under natural condition without the interference of a man. Depends entirely upon solar energy. Main life supporting system .
Divided on the basis of habitat Aquatic ecosystem:- Ecosystem that establish themselves in aquatic environments. a) Freshwater ecosystem (salt contents are low) b) Marine ecosystem ( salt contents are high) Terrestrial ecosystems:- Ecosystem that develop in land environments. Example forests, grassland and deserts etc.
2.Man-made ecosystem Ecosystem maintained artificially by man. Example Cropland Designed to serve specific purposes such as agriculture ,urban ecosystem recreational areas and industrial areas.
Benefits of man-made ecosystems Food production Habitat creation Water management Climate regulation
Negative impacts of Man-made ecosystem Habitat destruction Loss of biodiversity Pollution and environmental degradation
Microecosystem Small subset of large ecosystem. Shows all the features of ecosystem such as production of food, breakdown, energy flow and nutrient cycling. Include living organisms physical components like soil, water and air, and interaction between them.
Microecosystem may be natural or artificial Natural microecosystem Tree holes:- Providing habitat for microorganisms and insects. Artificial microecosystem Greenhouses:- Controlled environments for plant growth, used for experiments and research.
