Kinds of Sets
Null or an Empty Set Unit set Infinite set Finite set Equal set Equivalent Set Joint set Disjoint set Kinds of Sets
Null or Empty set 20XX presentation title 3 A set with no elements. Example: A set of even counting integers between 1 and 2.
UNIT SET 20XX presentation title 4 A set with only ONE element. Example: The set of days in a week that starts with letter M.
INFINITE SET 20XX presentation title 5 A set that contains an unlimited number of elements. Example: Q= {x/x ϵ odd counting numbers}
FINITE SET 20XX presentation title 6 A set that contains limited number of elements. Example: Q= {x/x ϵ months in a year}
EQUAL SET 20XX presentation title 7 Two sets that have exactly the same elements; only their order is different. Example: A= {1, 2, 3} B= {3, 1, 2} These two sets are said to be equal. We write A = B
EQUIVALENT SETS 20XX presentation title 8 Two sets that have equal elements or have the same cardinality, which means, one-to-one correspondence can be established between the elements of the sets. Example: C= {1, 2, 3} B= {a, b, c} These two sets are said to be equivalent sets.
DISJOINT SETS 20XX presentation title 9 Two sets are said to disjoint if they have no elements in common. Example: C= {1, 2, 3} B= {a, b, c} These two sets are said to be disjoint sets.
JOINT SETS 20XX presentation title 10 Two sets are said to joint if they have SOME elements in common. Example: C= {1, 2, 3, 5, 6} B= {4, 5} These two sets are said to be joint sets.
