KIROBO = KIBO + ROBOT CAR – 4.3 YEARS

THE WORLD’S FIRST TALKING “ROBOT ASTRONAUT”

宇宙の会話ロボット公開 Robot astronaut to be sent to ISS(360p).MP4

Kirobo's creator Tomotaka Takahashi shows off his humanoid robot during its unveiling at a press event in Tokyo. Operating safely in zero gravity 'I want to create a future where humans and robots can live together and get along,’ ロボット宇宙飛行士になるための 12 の試練 その 1 :無重力試験 (360p).MP4

Japan Launches Talking 'Robot Astronaut' Kirobo Into Space: A Japanese H-2B rocket launches the HTV-4 (Kounotori 4) Robotic cargo ship toward the International Space Station on Aug. 4, 2013 Japan Standard Time (Aug. 3, 2013 EDT/GMT) from Tanegashima Space Center in southern Japan .

The Kirobo Mini features: Created by Toyota and Tomotaka Takahashi Voice recognition Height (when seated): 100mm (3.9") Weight: around 183g (6.5 oz) Charging time: around 3 hours Can be used for around 2.5 hours nonstop Language: Japanese Requires app to talk and communicate Compatibility with overseas phones and devices not guaranteed Images show a prototype and may vary slightly from final product Instructions: Japanese

Kirobo Mini's new abilities

U se of the Kirobo Mini robot   It can understand facial emotions , remember its user’s preferences and use this data to carry out meaningful conversations . Additionally, the Robot of Hope will also keep a record of the journeys undertaken with the car. Thereby giving it the ability to respond with comments like “We were here last week too” and “That was a long drive, well done!”

TECHNICAL: Elekit's Kirobo has two light and two touch sensors and is programmed using IconWorks , a specialized software developed for the purpose. Programming apparently requires users to just arrange icons on a PC screen as desired and transfer the program to Kirobo through a transfer cable. The robot will then perform the actions required. The Elekit Kirobo robot can trace a line, negotiate around obstacles or follow a light, among other things. The CPU comes in a box that has several slots so users can create their own robot shell. This Kirobo uses a RISC (reduced instruction set computing)-type PIC16F88 CPU with flash memory. It has DC motors , and runs for about six hours on four AA batteries. The device weighs about 8 oz. excluding the batteries.

How does it work ? The Kirobo Mini works in conjunction with your Smartphone and Toyota’s cloud service. The robot records the user’s voice, relays it to the paired Smartphone. An app on the Smartphone will then upload this to Toyota’s cloud service where it will undergo speech recognition. An appropriate response is generated and passed on to the robot via the Smartphone. It can chat for up to 2.5 hours on batteries. It’s being released only in Japan at the moment and costs 39,800 yen ($392) KIROBO AUDIO APP CLOUD RUN BY TOYATO

World records Kirobo set two  Guinness World Records  after it returned to Japan, following an 18-month stay on board the  International Space Station : First companion robot in space Highest altitude for a robot to have a conversation
