The KKK and the Kartilya ng Katipunan The Kataastaasan , Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK) or Katipunan is arguably the most important organization formed n the Philippine history. While anti-colonial movements, efforts, and organizations had already been established centuries prior to the foundation of the katipunan , it was only this organization that envisioned a united Filipino nation that would revolt against the Spaniards for the total independence of the country from Spain. Previous armed revolts had already occurred before the foundation of the Katipunan, but none of them envisioned a unified Filipino nation revolting against the colonizers. Previous armed revolts had already occurred before the foundation of the Katipunan, but none of them envisioned a unified Filipino nation revolting against the colonizers. Previous armed revolts had already occurred before the foundation of the Katipunan, but none of them envisioned a unified Filipino nation revolting against the colonizers. For example, Diego Silang was known as anllocano who took up his arms and led one of the longest running revolts in the country. Silang. However, was mainly concerned about his locality and referred to himself as El Rey de Ilocos (The King of locos). The imagination of the nation was largely absent in the aspirations of the local revolts before Katipunan. On the other hand, the propaganda movements led by the ilustrados like Marcelo H.del Pilar, Graciano Lopez Jaena , and Jose Rizal did not envision a total separation of the Philippines from Spain, but only demanded equal rights, representation and protection from the abuses of the friars. In the conduct of their struggle, Katipunan created a complex structure and a defined value system that would guide the organization as a collective aspiring for a single goal.

The Katipunan had four aims, namely : 1.to develop a strong alliance with each and every Katipuneros 2.to unite Filipinos into one solid nation; 3.to win Philippine independence by means of an armed conflict (or revolution); 4 . to establish a republic after independence.

One Of The most important Katipunan documents was the KartilyangKatipunan . The original title of the document was "Manga Aral NangKatipunan ng mga A.N.B." or"Lessons of the Organization of the Sons of Country" -The document was written by Emilio Jacinto in the 1896. Jacinto and was only 18 years old when he joined the movement. - Ang Kartilya ng Katipunan - The Kartilya can be treated as theKatipunan's code ofconduct. It containsfourteen rules thatinstruct the wayKatipuneros should behave, and which specific values should he uphold. - Generally, the rules stated in the Kartilya can be classified into two. The first group contains the rules that will make the member an upright individual and the second group contains the rules that will guide the way he treats his fellow men.

Emilio Jacinto He was a law student at the Universidad de Santo Tomas. Despite his youth, Bonifacio recognized the value and intellect of Jacinto that upon seeing that Jacinto’s Kartilya was much better than the Decalogue he wrote, he willingly favored that the Kartilya be distributed to their fellow Katipuneros . Jacinto became the secretary of the organization and took charge of the short-lived printing press of the Katipunan on 15 April 189 Bonifacio appointed Jacinto as a commander of the Katipunan in Northern Luzon. Jacinto was 22 years old.

Andres Bonifacio Monument For Andres Bonifacio’s unparalleled legacy and sacrifices for Philippine independence, there have been many tributes to him, but probably the most well-known is the Andres Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan Andres Bonifacio Monument is dedicated to the lifework of Gat. Andres Bonifacio, the staunch Philippine hero known for his role in inciting the Revolutionary War against the Spanish colonizers. It was created by Guillermo E. Tolentino , one of the National Artists of the Philippines. The monument standing at the end of the Avenida and the beginning of the Manila North Road, the structure greets any visitor coming from the north. The road heading west of the monument is Samson Road, named after the Katipunero who was the cabeza of Barrio Pugad Lawin Balintawak, where the “Cry” took place. The original plaque read: “A los Heroes de 1896.”

That plaque is now lost and replaced with “Bonifacio” and the statue was relocated in front of the Vinzons Hall at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. It later became the symbol of Caloocan City. Standing taller than Rizal Monument at Luneta , the monument is usually mistaken to mark the site of the First Cry which actually took place in the vicinity of the Cloverleaf. Jacinto also wrote a newspaper namely “KALAYAAN” he wrote it using “DIMASILAW” a.k.a “PINGKIAN” of katipunan . He is also the one who wrote the KARTILYA NG KATIPUNAN. “ katipunan ” (association or assembly) it comes from a root-word “TIPON” Jacinto’s news paper is a primary source.
