Introduction Kota Super Thermal Power Plant is Rajasthan 's first major coal -fired power plant. Bituminous coal is used as fuel. KSTPS is designed in following stages: Total generation capacity is 1240 MW.
General layout
Coal handling plant About 20000 tons coal requirement per day. The main coal sources are, Coal India Ltd. (CIL) South-Eastern Coalfield Ltd. (SECL) Northern Coalfield Ltd. (NCL) Coal handling plant can be divided into three sections: Wagon unloading system Crushing system Conveying system
Water Treatment Plant Water treatment for thermal power plants is conducted to prevent problems such as carryover to the turbine components, as well as corrosion and scale formation/deposition in the boiler and turbine systems.
Boiler Overview of boiler: Boiler at KSTPS:
Steam turbine & Generator
Cooling system In KSTPS hydrogen cooling system is employed for generator cooling. Water tower cooling: In KSTPS only unit 6 th and 7 th has cooling tower.
Ash handling plant Electrostatic Precipitator is used in ash handling plant to remove fly ash. In thermal power plants around 25% is boiler furnace bottom ash and 75% is pulverized fly ash.
Switchyard Two 220KV bus bars have been provided in switchyard and are interconnected through a bus coupler. Two step down transformer each feeding 6.6KV system. There are total 12 Feeders.
Control panel In control room various controls are provided & various measurements Are made. Automatic control is provided For Combustion, feed water regulation & reheat temperature. Monitors operations and measurements across the plant.
