•Definition:
*Chronicmultisystemdiseaseofunknown
causescharecterizedbyàwidespreadnon-
caseatingnoncaseatingepithelioid
granulomasinaffectedtissues.

Sarcoidosis
•Histopathologicalfeatures:
TightroundedSarcoidgranulomacomposedof:
1-Epithelioidcells
2-Multinucleatedlanghansgiantcells.
3-Peripheral ring of T lymphocytesforming narrow outer zone (Bare granuloma ).
•Giant cellscontain inclusion bodies, as:
1-Crystalline inclusions are composed of calcium carbonate Schaumanbodies
2-Star-shaped asteroid bodiesstain pink with eosin.

-Non-caseatinggranuloma.
The granuloma is surrounded by little
lymphocytes, less than that of T.B.
granuloma (bare granuloma)
-The granuloma contains few giant cells
with intracytoplasmicinclusion bodies
(Asteroid and Schuman bodies).
