3. A Land Information System is a Geographic Information System for cadastral and land use mapping, consisting of an accurate, current and reliable land record cadastre and associated attributes ( Source :compass.ie )

4. LIS is a digital system having spatial(graphical) and non spatial data for each land holding(parcel) Since the two are maintained in digital form it is possible to edit, maintain, rectify and keep the record up to date with least efforts

Way forward Koreas Eximbank will fund feasibility study to digitialize Sri Lanka Land Management System Feasibility study will seek to establish a Land Data Infrastructure(LDI) and LIS The project will enable the government of Sri Lanka to integrate the land parcel fabrics into LDI and LIS and enhance the ability to manage the city administration using LIS for 24 municipalities
