Introduction Definition of Land Pollution : (a) Degradation of Earth’s land surfaces often caused by human activities & their misuse of land resources (b) Destruction of Earth’s surface & soil that caused by human activities, which related to business activities (c) Land pollution is occurs when waste is not disposed properly
Causes of Land Pollution
(1) Mining Activity Heavy minerals, sulfuric acid and other toxic material leak from mining waste into soil. Huge hole is created at the bottom of the surface which created a big mining pool.
(2) Industrialization Increase in demand of food and shelter, therefore more waste product are produce.
(3) Nuclear Waste Left over nuclear plant is throw at the bottom of the land .
(4) Agricultural Activities Farmers often use highly toxic fertilizers and pesticides to get rid of insects, fungi and bacteria from their crops.
(5)Sewage treatment: Large amount of solid waste is leftover once the sewage has been treated. The leftover material is sent to landfill site which end up in polluting the environment.
(6)Overcrowded landfills: Each household produces tones of garbage each year. Items that can not be recycled become a part of the landfills that destroy the beauty of the city and cause land pollution.
(7)Construction activities: Due to urbanization, large amount of construction activities are taking place which has resulted in large waste articles like wood, metal, bricks, plastic that can be seen by naked eyes outside any building or office which is under construction.
The negative impact of land pollution
(1) Distraction for tourist The city looses its attraction as tourist destination Tourism in that particular area drop It lead to loss of revenue for state government and also affect business activities in that country
(2) Soil Pollution Decrease in soil fertility and therefore decrease in soil yield. Generally crops can’t grow and flourish in polluted soil. Yet, if some crops mange to grow, they would be poisonous enough to cause serious health problem in people consuming them.
Soil pollution
(3)Effect on human health P roblem of cancer, such as skin cancer H uman respiratory system The toxic chemical reach our body
Effect on human health
SOLUTION FOR LAND POLUTION
(1) Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. Reduce the amount of litter, recycle the waste that can be recycled and reuse those that can still be used. AKA the 3Rs Practiced in almost every single country in the world
(2) Buy Biodegradable Product Biodegradable products enable the waste products to “compost”. Lesser rubbish will be produced.
(3) Create Dumping Ground Away So that waste product will not be seen all over the places. Clean Lesser pollution Save the environment
(4) Do Organic Garden No fertilizers will be used Healthy Can be sold at a higher price.
