The Land of Egypt Ancient Egypt developed along the Nile River Valley and extended from the Mediterranean to the land of Nubia. The desert bordered the Nile Valley on both sides. The Nile River is one of the few that flow from south to north and rich soil brought by the Nile form equatorial Africa, makes the delta area very fertile. In Roman times it provided much of the grain needed by the Roman Empire.
People of Egypt Egyptian people developed one of earliest civilizations and their development of hieroglyphic writing helps us to trace their life and culture. From their art we can determine they were short, clean shaven, and their hair was straight and black. Their mechanical genius is exhibited in the structure of the pyramids and monuments they built on the backs of slaves.
History of Egypt Divided periods into Old, Middle, and New Kingdom. Old Kingdom (c. 2700-2200 B.C.) Also known as Pyramid Age Led by different Pharaohs who were considered gods . Arts and sciences flourished Followed by a period of chaos where nobles seized power for themselves
Middle Kingdom (c.2125-1520 B.C.) Pharaohs regained control but ruled with nobility called nomarchs. This period produced some of the greatest literary works of the ancient world. This period came to an end when invaded by the Hyksos people. The Hyksos introduced the horse and chariot to the Egyptians and the idea of Empire.
New Kingdom (c.1520-1295 B.C.) The hated Hyksos were ultimately expelled by the Egyptians ushering in the New Kingdom. Egypt then advanced into Palestine, Syria, and as far as the Euphrates River. Garrisons were maintained at crucial places allowing them to control a large territory. It was during the era of the New Kingdom that the Exodus occurred. Egypt was eventually conquered in 525 B.C. by the Persian Empire and would never be an empire herself again.

We will not go through any field or vineyard, or drink water from any well.
