Engineering Drawing & Graphics Lecture 02 Drawing Instruments and their use by Engr. Ismail Khan Lecturer Mechanical Engineering Department UET Peshawar

Drawing Instruments and their use 1.Pencil It has got three ranges, the mid-range, which has been shown in the table, the harder range and the softer range. Pencil H and HB are more suitable for Lettering and Dimensioning.

2. T S quare It is a technical drawing instrument used primarily as a guide for drawing horizontal lines on a drafting table.   It may also guide a set square to draw vertical or diagonal lines .

2. T S quare The top of the T-square hangs off of the drafting table and is called the head; the blade is the part that stays on the drafting table. T-square is operated with left hand only and is grabbed by head.

3. Set S quares Set squares are useful for drawing parallel lines and lines inclined at angles other than zero degree . Set squares come in two usual forms, both right triangles: one with 90-45-45 degree angles, the other with 30-60-90 degree angles . Combining the two forms by placing the hypotenuses together will also yield 15° and 75° angles.

3. Set S quares Set squares can be used in combination to draw different angles as shown below
