Formworks and scaffolding (lumber)
Structures that have formworks: 1. Footing 2. Column 3. Beam 4. Suspended slabs 5. Retaining Walls 2
Common materials used Formwork is the temporary mold or structure into which concrete is poured to give it the desired shape and structure. Plywood - available in different thicknesses and can be reused multiple times if properly maintained. Fiberboard - lightweight, easy to cut, and provides a smooth finish to the concrete surface Particleboard - made from wood particles and adhesive Plastic Forms - lightweight and modular plastic panels that interlock to form the desired shape Metal Formworks - Steel and aluminum formwork Engineered Wood Products - offer strength and stability and can be used for multiple construction cycles 3
plywood Sizes 4 feet x 8 feet: This is a standard size widely used for construction purposes. 3 feet x 6 feet: For smaller projects Thickness 1/4 inch (6mm): Often used for interior applications and lighter-duty projects. 1/2 inch (12mm): A versatile thickness suitable for various construction applications, including formwork for walls and slabs. 3/4 inch (18mm): Commonly used for heavier-duty applications 4
