Application letter ? A letter of application, also known as a  cover letter , is a document sent with your  resume  to provide additional information on your skills and experience to get a job you wish.

GUIDELINES A letter of application should be … Length : not more than one page long . Format :   single-spaced with a space between each paragraph. Use about 1" margins and align your text to the left, which is the standard alignment for most documents . Font:  Use a traditional font such as Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri. The font size should be between 10 and 12 points.

Introduction The introduction is the most important part of the letter. Begin by stating what job you are applying for. Explain where you heard about the job, particularly if you heard about it from a contact associated with the company . for example : I am writing in response to your advertisement in the Jawa Post for a Staff Administration. Briefly mention how your skills and experience match the company and/or position; this will give the employer a preview of the rest of your letter .

Body Should be used to answer any questions your employer might have about how you feel that your education, background job, your past experiences and your specific skills required for the job you are seeking . You must pay attention to : Find out what the employer is looking for. Use the general word or everyday terms. Don’t forget to mention your non-technical experiences. Make sure that you have a good characters or a specific skills.

Conclusion Say thank you to the hiring manager for considering you and note how you will follow up. You must sound confident and let the company know where you can be reached. End it with good statement, for example: I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your consideration. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my qualifications or training.

Closing Follow the closing with a comma, a space, and then your name and your contact information, if you're sending an email message. For example : Best regards, Your Name Your LinkedIn Profile URL Your Email Address

CONTENT STRATEGIEST Address readers needs rather than your own . Couch it in terms of what you can do for them and for their organization. Remember: you know you need them, but they need to see why they need you. Provide specifics , details , and examples . Avoid self- congratulatory statements , like say ‘ I am sure that your company will … ’ Sound interested . Avoid negatives , too close, or too ‘ cute ’.
