LESSONS EVERY CHURCH WOKRER MUST LEARN FROM THE SERVANT OF ABRAHAM GENESIS 24:1-4 HOTR WORKER RETREAT JAN. 2021

GENESIS 24:1-4 Now Abraham was old, [well] advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things . 2 Abraham said to his servant [Eliezer of Damascus], the oldest of his household, who had charge over all that Abraham owned , “ Please, put your hand under my thigh [as is customary for affirming a solemn oath], 3 and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live, 4 but you will [instead] go to my [former] country (Mesopotamia) and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac [the heir of the covenant promise].”

He was Given a Responsibility without being monitored or supervised Abraham gave his servant a covenant task of getting his son Isaac a wife with specific instructions (Genesis 24:4 but you will [instead] go to my [former] country (Mesopotamia) and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac [the heir of the covenant promise].) Without any form of monitoring or supervision, the servant carried out the directive to the latter and brought back Rebecca for Isaac as a wife. As a church worker can you do your work without monitoring or supervision? Can your Pastor/Head of Department give you a major task and expect excellent results with having to supervise you? Are you always delivering your responsibilities without monitoring or supervision As a church worker, you must deliberately desire to always deliver excellent results in any given responsibility with or without monitoring or supervision

He was trusted with sensitive and covenant assigment Isaac was the heir to Abraham’s throne, therefore marrying aright was of utmost importance to his father, Abraham trusted his servant with this sensitive assignment of not just getting him a wife, but a good wife from his kingsmen. Every church, organisation have sensitive matters/issues, can your Pastor/Head of Department trust you with sacred and sensitive matters? When your Pastor/Head of Department confide in you, how many people did you tell? You must desire to be a worker that your Pastor/Head of Department is confident of sharing sensitive and scared matters with you and be sure that nobody else will help

He was trusted with the wealth of his master Genesis 24:10 And the servant took ten camel of the camel of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his matter were in his hand: and he arose and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor Abraham trusted his servant with his wealth, he left everything under his care Does your Pastor/Head of Department trust you? Can your Pastor/Head of Department send you with good money without having the fear of you not returning or returning with stories? Can your Pastor/Head of Department send you to buy something without you inflating the price? Can your Pastor/Head of Department get a return of change when send to buy something and you got a good bargain? Can your Pastor trust you and asign you to the bulk room without money always disappearing?

He was connected with the God of his master Genesis 24:12 And he said, O Lord God of my master Abraham i pray thee, send me good speed this day and shew kindness unto my master Abraham. The servant was not only connected to Abraham his master, but also to his master’s God, even in the absence of his master, he still pray to the God of his master. Are you connected to the God of your master? Do you believe and work with the vision of the commission you’re called into? Do you represent the brand and stand for? Do you know God and you are personally connected to him? Every worker must be a brand ambassador of the house, defending and standing for the value of the ministry always

He was a servant indeed Genesis 24:34 And Said I am Abraham’s servant When this man got to Rebecca’s house and he introduce himself as Abraham’s servant He did not consider it necessary to mention his own name. As a church worker, you must be serious and passionate about your task always. You must own your task in the house of the Lord as if is your paid job Whether is your job or not, you must be ready and available to give a lending hand always to ensure all job is done and excellent result is achieved Avoid excuses, whenever you are giving a task as a group, even if nobody shows up, get it done, God reward individually. He returned with evidence and result Abraham gave his servant the mandate to get a wife for Isaac and he return with Rebecca. You must learn to be result oriented worker. when you are given an assignment, do not come back with excuses, arm yourself with it must work mentality. Do your best with God help always and you will become a productive servant and an excellent worker Efforts and hard works are good, but only results are perfect If the servant of Abraham returned with Rebecca, you will return with God glorifying Tangible result in Jesus name.
