LEVOCETRIZINE Levocetrizine (As di-hydrochloride) is a third-generation, non-sedating anti-histamine developed from Cetrizine , the second-generation anti-allergic drug. Chemically, Levocetrizine is the levorotatory enantiomer of Cetrizine and is known as the active enantiomer . It is a selective H1 receptor antagonist and prevents/treats allergy. Its affinity to human H1 receptors is two-fold higher than cetrizine . Rapidly absorbed after oral absorption and peak plasma conc. Is achieved in about one hour. Elimination half-life is 8-10 hrs.
MONTELUKAST Montelukast belongs to a class of drugs called Leukotriene receptor antagonists and helps to decrease inflammation and nasal congestion. It is a cys LT1 antagonist. This action helps to improve symptoms of Asthma as well as symptoms of allergic rhinitis. It blocks the action of Leukotreines on cystenil leukotreine receptor ( cys LT1) in the lungs and bronchial tubes by binding to it. This removes Broncho -constriction. USES: Used in asthma, exercise-induced broncho -spasm, allergic rhinitis, urticaria .
COMBINATION OF LEVOCETRIZINE AND MONTELUKAST PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE RELIEF FROM ALLERGY AND INFLAMMATION IN RESPIRATORY DISORDERS LIKE ASTHMA AND SEASONAL/PERINNEAL ALLERGIC RHINITIS. COMBINATION
