LIBERALISM DR. SHALINI SINGH BAGHEL INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS POLITICAL SCIENCE

WOODROW WILSON Woodrow Wilson became president of the United States in 1912. he was considered as on of the mos t important figure in liberalism( wilsonianism ). Wilson advocated for the United States to adopt an international policy based on  moral diplomacy . Moral diplomacy called for the United States to promote more democratic ideals abroad. When World War I erupted in 1914, Wilson advocated for the United States to remain neutral in the conflict and, in 1916, ran and was re-elected on the platform "He Kept Us Out of War." When the United States was drawn into the war, Wilson hoped to end World War I and that  "Peace Without Victory"  could be achieved. Wilson believed that for the world to move forward, neither the Allies nor the Central Powers could claim victory at the end of the war. In January 1918, Wilson developed what he believed to be the framework for lasting world peace. This framework became known as the  Fourteen Points .
