6. Sign-in to Library Search Click on ‘Sign-in’, choose ‘Middlesex University’ and use your University email address and IT password. Signing-in enables you to request books, check your library record, create lists, save searches, create alerts and export references to RefWorks .

7. Type the article title into the search box…. ….select ‘Articles+’ from the drop-down menu and click on the search symbol.

8. If the article is available from our resources it will appear in your search results ….click here to access the article…. Click on ‘Available Online’…. ….you will be taken to an online resource which the library subscribes to (in this case IEEE Xplore ) where you can access the full-text article. Click on ‘PDF’ to view the full text of the article.

Or you can search using the journal title Select ‘Journal Title Search’ from the top menu in Library Search …. ….enter the journal title into the search box and then click on the search symbol…. ….if we subscribe to the journal it will appear in your search results. Click on ‘Available Online’ (continued on next slide.

10. You now see more information about the journal Click on this link…. ….and you will be taken to the relevant online resource (in this case IEEE Xplore ), where you can access the journal.

11. We are looking for this article Mori, G., Paterno , F. and Santoro, C. The reference (above) tells us that the article is from the 2002 , specifically volume 28, number 8 . In order to find the article, click on ‘All Issues’. The library subscribes to many online resources which provide access to journals. Each will look slightly different, but usually you will have the option to choose the current issue of the journal or past/all issues.

12. Select the correct year and issue Issue: 8 You can now see the correct issue (i.e. volume 28 number 8 ) of the journal ( IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering ) that we need. Scroll down the articles until you find the correct one (page number order)…. ….click on the PDF symbol to access the full text of the article.
