OF
LITERARY
DEVICES

MOOD
•It refers to what the
reader feels while
reading the story.

TONE
•Refers to the attitude of
the narrator or
viewpoint character
toward story events and
other characters

TECNIQUE
•a technique in which an
author uses in his writing. It
varies from one author to
author and depends upon
one’s cord choice and tone.

KINDS OF TECNIQUE
A.Descriptive - the author focuses on describing an event, character or
place in detail. Incorporate sensory details in the writing.
B.Persuasive - The writer tries to give reasons and justification to make
the readers believe his point of view
C.Narrative - The writer narrates the story by telling events.
D.Expository - subject-oriented style. Tell the reader about a specific
subject or topic, and in the end, the author leaves out his opinion about
the topic
E.Argumentative - to radically change the opinions of the reader or
audience.

PURPOSE
•Refers to the
author’s reason
for writing.

A.To entertain - to amuse the
readers
B.To inform - to provide
information about the topic
C.To persuade - to encourage the
readers to take action, convince them
of an idea through argument or re-
affirm their existing belief.
