invites us to join ourselves to Him, to unite our weaknesses to His
strength, our ignorance to His wisdom, our unworthiness to His
merits.”

communion with God.”

WORK TO BE DONE DURING THE LITTLE TIME OF TROUBLE
“Dear Brother; I will try to answer your questions as to what you
should do in the case of Sunday laws being enforced.” “The
light given me by the Lord at a time when we were expecting
just such a crisis as you seen to be approaching, was that when
the people were moved by a power from beneath to enforce
Sunday observance, Seventh-Day Adventist were to show their
wisdom by refraining from their ordinary work on that day,
devoting it to missionary effort.”
SOP2 1334, 9T 232
“When we devote Sunday to missionary work. The whip will be
taken out of the hands of the arbitrary zealots who would be
pleased to humiliate Seventh-Day Adventists, when they see
that we enjoy ourselves on Sunday in visiting the people and
opening the scriptures to them, they will know that it is useless
them to try to hinder our work by making Sunday laws.”
SOP2 1334, 9T 232
“Sunday can be use for carrying forward various lives of work that
will accomplish much for the Lord. On this day open air meeting,
cottage meetings can be held. House to house can be done.”
SOP2 1335, 9T 233
“Those who write can devote this day in writing their articles.”
SOP2 1335, 9T 233
“Let the teachers in our schools devote Sunday to missionary
effort… Let the teachers take the students with them to hold
meetings for those who know not the truth….”
“God has given us plain direction regarding our work. We are to
proclaim the truth in regard to the Sabbath on the Lord, to make
up the breach that has been made in His law, e are to do what
we can to enlighten those ignorance; but we are never to
confederate with men of the world in order to receive financial
assistance.” SOP2 1335, 9T 233
“We can use Sunday as a day on which to carry forward work that
will tell on the side of Christ. We are to do our best, working with
all meekness and lowliness.” SOP2 1335, 9T 235
“…Give Sunday to the Lord as a missionary work. Take the
students out to hold meetings in different places, and to do
medical missionary work. They will find the people at home and
will have a splendid opportunity to present the truth. This way of
spending Sunday is always acceptable to the Lord.”
SOP2 1336, 9T 238
“Teach the people to conform in all things to the laws of their state,
when they can do so without conflicting with the law of God.”

of Paul to Colossian was written. (C.A.D. 62) But Paul
apparently had never been in the city. Col. 2:1)
- A letter from Paul reached the Laodecians at the same time the

- One of the seven letters to the churhes in the Revelation is
addressed to the church at Laodecia (Revelation 3:14-22)

The rebukes contain in this letter indicate that the
condition in that church were not good, and the references to
wealth, eye salve, and white raiment are explain by a knowledge
of the city’s history, its economic importance and pride, and its
industrial products.

LAODECIAN MESSAGE FOR ADVENTIST:LAODECIAN MESSAGE FOR ADVENTIST:
The message of Laodecian church is highly
applicable to us as people. It has been placed before us for a
long time, but not been healed as it should have been, when the
work of repentance is earnest and deep. The individual members
of the church will buy the rich goods of heaven Revelation 3:18
quoted,”

CHARACTER OF LAODECIAN PEOPLE / CHURCHCHARACTER OF LAODECIAN PEOPLE / CHURCH
PROFESSORS BUT NOT DOERS:
The Laodecian applies to all who profess to keep the
law of God, and yet not doers of this. We are not to be selfish
in anything. Every phase of the Christian life is to be a
representation of the life of Christ. If it is not, we shall hear the
terrible words, “I know you not.”
SOP3 2142, RH Oct. 17, 1899
SELF INFLATED RELIGION:
Love of self exclude the love of Christ. Those who live
for self are ranged under the head of the Laodecian church
who are lukewarm neither cold nor hot.SOP3 2143
BANKRUPT:
Many are Laodecians, living in a spiritual self deception.
They cloth themselves in the garment of their own
righteousness, imagining themselves to be rich and increased in
goods and in need of nothing, when they need daily to learn on
Jesus, His meekness and lowliness, else they find themselves
bankrupt, their whole life is being a lie.
SOP3 2143, letter 66, 1894
.
SELF EXALTATION A DANGEROUS ELEMENT:
It FORNISHES everything it touches. It is the off spring of
pride, and it work so indigenously that, unless guarded against,
it will take possession of the thoughts and control the actions.
The Laodecian message must be proclaimed with the power; for
now it is especially applicable. Now more than ever before, are
seen worldwide ambition, self exaltation, double dealing,
hypocrisy and deception. Many are speaking great selling words
of vanity, saying, “I am reached increased with good and have
need of nothing” yet they are miserable and poor and blind and
naked.

WITNESSWITNESS
Revelation 3:16-18
1.We will buy a gold that we may be rich – truth, faith and love
and be rich in heavenly treasure.
2.We will buy a white raiment that thou mayest be clothed, and
that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear.
- The white raiment is the righteousness of
Christ that we may be wrought into the character.
- purity in heart, purity in motive, will
characterize every one who is washing his
robe, and making it white as the lamb.
SOP3 2144, RH July 24, 1888
3. We may buy the eye salve, that we may see the spiritual
discernment of the Holy Spirit.
The straight testimony call sin by its right name and appeals to
God’s people to repent and to forsake all sin to come to the
standard.
