THE LOCATION OF THE PHILIPPINES

The Philippines and the different Continents PANGAEA – huge land mass or continent. PANTHALASSA – huge body of water. CONTINENTS – land divisions. Seven major continents: AFRICA ANTARCTICA ASIA EUROPE NORTH AMERICA SOUTH AMERICA AUSTRALIA

There are continents that are joined together, whereas others are separated by bodies of water. Some continents have a lot of countries, whereas others have few. Africa has the most number of countries among the continents. The Philippines is part of Asia. Asia is the largest continent, whereas Australia is the world’s smallest continent. Asia is also the world’s most populous continent.

THE PHILIPPINES IN ASIA Asia is the continent located in greater parts at the eastern and northern hemispheres of the Earth. Asia has a total land area of 44, 579, 000 km sq. The smallest country in Asia by population is Maldives; the largest city by population is Tokyo, Japan; and the largest country by population is China. There are more than 40 countries in Asia.

THE PHILIPPINES IN ASIA The Philippines is one of the countries of Asia. It is one of the 11 Southeast Asian nations. Other countries in Southeast Asia include CAMBODIA, LAOS, MYANMAR (BURMA), THAILAND, VIETNAM, MALAYSIA, BRUNEI, TIMOR-LESTE, INDONESIA, AND SINGAPORE . The neighboring countries of the Philippines include Japan and Taiwan in north , Indonesia in south, Vietnam in west, People’s Republic of China in the northwest.

ABOUT THE PHILIPPINES The Philippines has three main groups of islands: LUZON, VISAYAS, and MINDANAO . It has a total land area of 300, 000 km sq. The Philippines is a country with no land borders. It is an ARCHIPELAGO – a country composed of 7, 641 islands in total. Some of these islands can only be seen during low tide because they disappear during high tide. The Philippines has the following geographic coordinates: 13 ˚ N, 122 ˚ E .
