"Count On Me" – Bruno Mars [ Verse 1:] Oh uh-huh If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea I'll sail the world to find you If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see I'll be the light to guide you Find out what we're made of When we are called to help our friends in need [Chorus:] You can count on me like 1, 2, 3 I'll be there And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 You'll be there 'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah Ooooooh , oooohhh yeah, yeah [Verse 2:] If you're tossin ' and you're turnin ' And you just can't fall asleep I'll sing a song beside you And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me Every day I will remind you Oooh Find out what we're made of When we are called to help our friends in need [Chorus:] You can count on me like 1, 2, 3 I'll be there And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 You'll be there 'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah Ooooooh , oooohhh yeah, yeah You'll always have my shoulder when you cry I'll never let go, never say goodbye You know... [Chorus:] You can count on me like 1, 2, 3 I'll be there And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 You'll be there 'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah Ooooooh , oooohhh You can count on me 'cause I can count on you Lyrics

[ Verse 1:] Oh uh-huh If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea I'll sail the world to find you If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see I'll be the light to guide you Find out what we're made of When we are called to help our friends in need [Chorus:] You can count on me like 1, 2, 3 I'll be there And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 You'll be there 'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah Ooooooh , oooohhh yeah, yeah Verse 1 The whole verse could represent how friends can help each other when they are uncertain about what to do and need guidance since it talks about being lost or stuck. It is also perhaps trying to say how much true friends can do for each other and that they will be there for each other when it is tough or when they are unsure about what to do. It is also emphasising how much friends would care for each other with the two scenarios described. This could be indicating how people can realise whether someone is a true friend or not when they need help and could also suggest how someone helping their friend can help them to realise their ability to help them. Chorus I believe the lyrics here are trying to say that friends will always be there for each other and that they will help them whenever they need to. Analysis of lyrics

[ Verse 2:] If you're tossin ' and you're turnin ' And you just can't fall asleep I'll sing a song beside you And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me Every day I will remind you You'll always have my shoulder when you cry I'll never let go, never say goodbye You know... You can count on me 'cause I can count on you Verse 2 I think the first part of the verse is talking about how friends can help each other when they are going through a hard time and are stressed . The second part of the verse could be suggesting how someone may not see themselves as a good friend or have much use and their friend would comfort them by telling them what they mean a lot to them and that they are not useless . This part could again be suggesting how friends will always be there for each through hard times and that they can always rely on each other for help and won't leave ever them. It is also suggesting how much friends would care for each other. Analysis of lyrics

[ Verse 1:] Oh uh-huh If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea I'll sail the world to find you If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see I'll be the light to guide you Find out what we're made of When we are called to help our friends in need Verse 1 For this first part of the verse I am thinking about drawing it out in a notebook since it would be hard to create an image that could relate to the lyrics (sea ). For the second part of the verse I am thinking about using a lamp and switching it on to reveal the lyrics more the clearly, perhaps on the page of the notebook as well or on a whiteboard. The transition between the two scenes would just be the flip of the page since they will both be in the notebook. For this an idea could be that I create a collage and show the cutting and sticking stages with scissors and glue as "what we're made of" and form an image of two friends. This could be on a page in the notebook again. Music video ideas

[Chorus:] You can count on me like 1, 2, 3 I'll be there And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 You'll be there 'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah Ooooooh , oooohhh yeah, yeah [ Verse 2:] If you're tossin ' and you're turnin ' And you just can't fall asleep I'll sing a song beside you And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me Every day I will remind you Verse 2 For this first part of the verse I may have two people sitting on the grass with one of them playing the guitar to resemble the part "I'll sing a song beside you" and the other lying down with their eyes closed . The lyrics could be placed on pieces of paper beside them. Music video ideas Chorus One way I could present the 123 part in the chorus is by using a calculator as a prop and filming the numbers 123 being typed into the calculator . Another idea I have is to create the numbers using stationery and create a sort of stop motion. I could also use sticky notes and write the numbers on them and stick them on various things such as lockers, chairs, tables etc.

Application to narrative theory [ Verse 1:] Oh uh-huh If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea I'll sail the world to find you If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see I'll be the light to guide you Find out what we're made of When we are called to help our friends in need [Chorus:] You can count on me like 1, 2, 3 I'll be there And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 You'll be there 'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah Ooooooh , oooohhh yeah, yeah [Verse 2:] If you're tossin ' and you're turnin ' And you just can't fall asleep I'll sing a song beside you And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me Every day I will remind you Oooh Find out what we're made of When we are called to help our friends in need [Chorus:] You can count on me like 1, 2, 3 I'll be there And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 You'll be there 'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah Ooooooh , oooohhh yeah, yeah You'll always have my shoulder when you cry I'll never let go, never say goodbye You know... [Chorus:] You can count on me like 1, 2, 3 I'll be there And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 You'll be there 'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah Ooooooh , oooohhh You can count on me 'cause I can count on you

Todorov's narrative theory: >Equilibrium – A happy start >A disruption of this equilibrium by an event – A problem occurs >A realisation that a disruption has happened >An attempt to repair the damage of the disruption – the problem is solved >A restoration of the equilibrium – A happy ending I could perhaps incorporate Todorov's narrative theory into my narrative. However, instead of including all parts of the theory I could use the main stages of equilibrium , disruption of the equilibrium and a restoration of the equilibrium . This could be done by having the two friends appearing to be quite happy at the start and then a problem arises to one of them which disrupt their happiness and finally the problem is solved and they are back to how they were in the beginning. Application to narrative theory Semiotics The use of a lamp signifies hope as the light allows you to see what is around you and also be a guidance if you are lost. The could indicate the hope in a friendship, meaning that your friend is there for you when you are hopeless and would guide you when you are lost. The grass field could signify a sense of relaxation and freedom as grass fields are usually quite large and seem limitless. The sea could also signify freedom but since it is much bigger it could in fact give the reverse feeling and make you feel lost and uncomfortable . The colourful sticky notes could represent the happiness in the friendship and the youthfulness of the friends which reflect the theme being based on school students.
