Welcome to Malabar Coast

Malabar Coast. The Malabar Coast is a long and narrow coastline on the south-western shore line of the mainland  Indian subcontinent . Geographically, it comprises the wettest regions of southern  India , as the  Western Ghats  intercept the moisture-laden  monsoon  rains, especially on their westward-facing mountain slopes. The term "Malabar Coast" is also sometimes used to refer to the entire  Indian  coast from the western coast of  Konkan  to the tip of the subcontinent at  Kanyakumari .

G eographical location of M alabar C oast The Malabar Coast, in historical contexts, refers to India's southwestern coast, lying on the narrow coastal plain of Karnataka and Kerala states between the Western Ghats range and the Arabian Sea. The coast runs from south of Goa to Kanyakumari on India's southern tip.

The encircled part is MALABAR COAST.

I ntroduction to the M albars.... “Malbars” a term used for the people living in malabar region. Malbars is derived from the word  Malabar , a term which was used often by the French and other Westerners to refer to all  Southern Indians , including the  Tamils ,  Malayalees , Telugus  and  Kannadigas .

H istory of M albars.... Indian workers came to Reunion from South India, mostly from French settlements in  Tamil Nadu ,  Pondicherry , and  Karaikal . Most of these immigrants were ritually low in the caste system . Hard living conditions at home were the main reason behind their departure to La Reunion. The immigration of  indentured workers  from South India started in 1827 but it was only after 1848 that indentured immigration began on a big scale.

R ecent developments made by M albars.... The Malbars desire to learn their ancestors' culture, and started studying their language and religions especially from  Tamil Nadu . [1]  Recently many Malbars, particularly those of upper and middle classes, have started to become completely  Hindu  rather than nominally Christian. They also now wanted to translate their newly acquired civic and political rights into a gradual and increasing participation in local and other elections. A sit-in protest was organized to support  Sri Lanka Tamils  by the Réunionnais organization  TAMIL SANGAM  presided by  Dr Shanmugam . Hundreds of Tamils and non Tamils protested against the genocide of  Sri Lanka Tamils . [10]

Geographical reasons for its formation Malabar coast lies on the South west region of India stretching from south west Maharashtra to the western coast of Karnataka, Kerala and Kanyakumari. It is o be understood that these costal plains are basically raised platforms and beaches above the water level. It is surrounded by Western Ghats and Arabian Sea, indeed a narrow coastal plains and is over 845 km long. They emerged from the floors of sea.
