The Malaysian Water Partnership (MyWP)was formed to advance governance and management of water resources for sustainable and equitable development. It is the Host Institution for the Country Water Partnership, Malaysia GWP (MyGWP), as part of the network of the Global Water Partnership (https://www.gwp.org/). MyWP supports water security through providing a platform for multi-stakeholder discussions on science, technology and policy issues, capacity building, and empowering local community in developing resilience to climate change impacts. It supports the national focal point in the reporting of SDG6.5.1 Implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management through stakeholder discussions.

VISION: A water secure Malaysia.
MISSION: To advance governance and management
of water resources for sustainable and equitable
development.
AGENDA : Support and promote the adoption and
practice of the Integrated Water Resource
Management (IWRM) approach in all land and
water resource development and management in
Malaysia and elsewhere in the world.
Formed: 1997, by DID, as the Malaysian chapter of the
intergovernmental Global Water Partnership (GWP)
network (formed 1996), resulting from post-Dublin and
Rio UNCED (Earth Summit), 1992.
Registered: 2003, with RoS.
Accredited Country Water Partnership: MyGWP in 2010,
by GWP.

2. Key Roles & Activities
•Strategic partner to JPS, and under the UNESCO International
Hydrological Programme
•Organisation of water management themed events and facilities
•Disseminate information on International Hydrological Programme- UNESCO
•Conduct training programmes on hydrology and JPS Hydrological Procedures
•Support reporting of SDG 6.5.1 Implementation of IWRM (stakeholder
engagement workshops, fact-finding, assessing and verifying water sector data
for JPS)
•Support for Malaysian Water Week

•Malaysia Water Resources Management (MyWRM) Forum &
Exhibition, premier biennial forum on IWRM, since 2012
•Host and organiser
•Local & Regional Training with partners (e.g. NADMA, PBTs)
•IWRM training courses for water managers, administrators, frontline agencies,
etc (module design and training facilitators )
•Coordination & networking programmes for young water leaders (primarily
through tertiary students)
•Assist JPS on hosting training programmes under ASEAN Working Group on
Water Resources Management
•Hydrological Procedures for Engineers and Water Managers
•Community flood hazard response preparedness and resilience
•Coordinate International training courses and events (e.g. APEC, GWP-SEA)

5. MyWP & WST 2040
•MyWP volunteers to be the advocate to support the
government to kick start Phase 1 (2021-2025) that is to
accelerating implementation of IWRM, through the five focus
areas
•Aim: to promote Smart Partnership and win -win concept
among the government and the society through Top- down and
Bottom Up Approach
•To work together (not silo) in achieving the water security goals
•To establish standard guidelines for the monitoring and
evaluation of the action plan through the following:
•To increase awareness and participation of stakeholders especially local
communities
•To ensure the water resources are protected/monitored through
community monitoring and Citizen Scientists Engagement
•To promote and enhance people’s knowledge on the availability of
platforms (Water data Centre)
