Definition & the role of supervisors Who is a supervisor ? A person overseeing and directing a project to achieve a set target One who observes and directs the work of another person or some one who keeps a watch over somebody in the interest of what he is doing . He/she is the link between Management and the lower staff i.e. between Operations Manager and security guards. He is the action officer who ensures the company is running smoothly. Supervisors focus on day to day operations of how to implement managements decisions in their units through the work of subordinates

Types of Spot Checks Timed/regular Spot checks & Random sport checks help to ensure alertness of guards Minimises withdrawal from duty and incidences of connivance of guards with wrong elements
Transportation of guards Guards to be armed at the armory when there is transport for deployment of guards, Or else firearms can be delivered at points of deployment by a truck with adequate escort Removes risk of attacks on guards who move on foot while armed, it helps check on roaming armed guards Ensures punctuality at the point of duty
Role of Armory men Custodian of firearms Ensures firearms and ammunitions are kept safely Services firearms Identifies faulty firearms and ammunitions Issues out firearms to security guards for duty Receives firearms from guards on duty
continued Servicing g of firearms Regular serving of firearms at least once a month Repairs on faulty firearms Firearms beyond repair or unserviceable firearms to be surrendered to state for destruction. Faulty firearms not to be deployed at all. Expired, misfired ammunition should not be used and to be kept separate from the others. (PSOs can always seek permission to replenish their stock).
