Managing expiration dates of products in odoo Enterprise

Introduction Enterpr ise Odoo allows users to set expiration dates at both the product and batch levels, providing flexibility and accuracy. By using Odoo's expiration date management, companies can minimize waste, optimize stock rotation, and maintain high standards of product quality. The system allows users to set expiration dates at both the product and batch levels, providing flexibility and accuracy.

Lots/Serial Numbers Enterprise To set expiration dates for inventory items, first configure Lot/Serial Number options. Go to the "Configuration" menu, select "Settings," and find the "Traceability" section. Check the box for "Lots & Serial Numbers" to enable expiration dates in the Inventory app. Once activated, Odoo will add an "Expiration Dates" field.

Enterprise

Steps Enterprise Enable the options to display "Lots & Serial Numbers on Delivery Slips" and "Invoices" to show this information on delivery slips and invoices. Save the changes, then go to a product configuration form or create a new product under the "Products" section of the "Product" menu.

Example Enterprise For example, created a new product called "Pizza" and filled in its basic details. To set expiration dates, go to the “Inventory” tab in the product configuration form and choose “By Unique Serial Number” or “By Lots” under “Traceability.” This will reveal an “Expiration” field. Activate it to set various expiration dates like “Expiration Date,” “Best Before Date,” “Removal Date,” and “Alert Date” in the “DATES” section for traceability.

D ates Enterprise When expiration dates are enabled, four related date fields become available to fill in. These are four types of dates, explained below. Expiration Date: The time from when an item is made or received until it becomes unsafe or unsuitable for use. Best Before Date: The period before the expiration date when product quality may begin to decline, even if still safe. Removal Date: The time remaining until products are removed from stock based on their expiration date. Alert Date: The number of days before the expiration date when a notification is sent about items in a specific lot or serial number.
