GD : Tropical Africa, Central and Eastern South America, Central America & Caribbean. Pathogenesis : Mansonellosis Habitat : Body Cavities (peritoneal cavity or pleural cavity) Vector : Culicoides   sp. (female/biting midges ) E PIDEMIOLOGY

morphology Microfilaria 200 μm in length; width of 4.5  μm ; have the ability to elongate and contract (can vary in measurement and form) unsheathed nuclei extend to the end of the blunt tail head spot sometimes has a V-shaped appearance Adult white and thread-like cylindrical in shape Male 45 mm by 60 μm ; tail is full coil Female 70-80 mm in length; 120 μm in diameter

LIFE CYCLE

MANIFESTATION often asymptomatic (no symptoms shown) associated with angioedema , pruritus , fever, headaches, arthralgias , and neurologic manifestations. eosinophilia , headache, fever, or abdominal pain may also be present nodules in conjunctiva ( kampala or Ugandan eye worm)
