3 BERTHING Quay: /Ki:/ A quay is a long platform beside the sea or a river where boats can be tied up and loaded or unloaded. Jack and Stephen were waiting for them on the quay. A berth is a space in a harbour where a ship stays for a period of time. = mooring

4 Berthing Stern in (1) The vessel arrives alongside the quay. She turns 90 o away from her berth. VTS VTS: What is your intention? Bridge: My intention is to berth stern in.

No, the vessel is not brought up yet Haul means to pull = heave A vessel is said to be brought up  when her way has stopped and she is riding to her anchor, with the anchor holding her.
