Plywood is the most commonly used engineered
wood primarily used on walls, floors and ceilings
for ornamental purposes, and in making
furniture.
It is manufactured by combining thin layers
(plies) of wood veneers glued together with the use
of grade specific adhesive
It is among the most eco-friendly materials
popular in the construction industry.
Introduction
Plywood
A. K. A. Block Board
Composed of wood batons sandwiched
between 2 layers of ply.
Provide more firmness and resistance to
bending than plywood for longer spans,
i.e. above 7’.
Lighter than Plywood panels
Plyboard edges have a solid wood
appearance which differentiates it from
plywood.

The grade refers to the
quality and appearance of the
plywood's face and back
veneers.
There are four grades of
plywood: A, B, C and D.
A has the highest quality and
is the most expensive.

DurabilityMaintenance
Surfaces of plywood panels with
thicker face veneer or more solid
veneers adjacent to the face
(such as found in Underlayment
grade panels) are more able to
withstand surface impacts.
Plywood holds up well to sharp
blows, fork tine impact and other
in-service abuses, which in turn
means lower replacement costs.
Avoid direct sunlight, wind, rain
and humidity, since it can
affect the appearance of your
plywood.
Do not store plywood sheets
on their edge as it may cause
bowing.
Store your plywood on a flat,
dry surface with a cover sheet
on top.

Veneer refers to thin slices of wood and sometimes
bark that typically are glued onto core panels
(typically, wood, particle board, or medium-density
fiberboard) to produce flat panels such as doors,
tops and panels for cabinets, parquet floors, and
parts of furniture.
Popular varieties include those of European,
African and Burma Teak.
Slices sized 6”, 8” , 9" are stitched together to make
the standard 8’ x 4’ panel size and are then pasted
onto a 4mm Plywood panel as the final product.
Introduction Veneer
Popular Brands Standard Sizes
Veneers are available in various
sizes, but the standard size of
veneer available in all veneer
species is 4'x8' (width x height).
There are very few companies that
manufacture 4'x10' big veneer
sheets.
Veneers are also available in 4'x6',
2'x6' and 2'x4'.
Introduction Laminates
Laminates are thin sheets
composed of different kinds of
paper and wood pulp, and are
typically used to cover the
plywood or plyboards in order to
change the appearance of the
material.
100% Man-Made Material
Composed of 7 paper layers
which are coated in Melamine and
hot pressed to achieve solidity of
the final product.
