Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots By Christian Erben

Education

When Mary was five years old, she was sent to France to be educated.

Mary was taught Latin, Italian, Spanish, and some Greek.

Mary learned how to play two instruments and learned prose, poetry, horsemanship, falconry, and needlework.

Professional Life

Mary returned to Scotland (she had been in France) in 1561 when she was 19 years old. She returned soon after it had officially become a Protestant country. Before the 1560's, the Roman Catholic Church had been Scotland's official church. Mary returned to Scotland because her cousin, James Stuart, asked her to. FRANCE SCOTLAND

When she was only sixteen, Mary was queen of England, Ireland, Scotland, and France. This was because of her Tudor blood, and her current husband, Francis. England Ireland Scotland France Wow…. This is a lot to rule! MARY

It was Mary's second marriage in July 1565 to her cousin Henry Stuart, earl of Darnley, son of Matthew Stewart, 4th earl of Lennox, that started the fatal train of events culminating in her destruction. People were against the marriage, so she was sent to prison, and beheaded under the order of her cousin Queen Elizabeth I because Elizabeth thought of Mary as a threat to her throne. Don’t get that close to me!
