I Definisi Postcolonialism can be defined as an approach in literary analysis that focuses on literary works written in English which were once a colony of the British.
Penemu The term postcolonial or postcolonialism first appeared in the late 1980s in scientific journal articles and as titles in text “The Empire Writes Back: Theory and Practice in Post-Colonial Literatures” (1989) by Bill Ashcroft, Gareth Griffitsh , and Helen Tiffin. In addition, the term also appeared in 1990 in "Past The Last Post: Theorizing Post-Colonialism and Post-Modernism" by Helen Tiffin. By the mid-90s, these terms had been firmly used in academic writings, and now postcolonialism is usually refers to the literature of the cultures colonized by the British. Although many figures contributed to the development of the theory postcolonialism, the key text for the emergence of postcolonialism theory is "Orientalism" (1978) written by Edward W. Said.
Konsep The writings of post-colonial writers, of course, would naturally be political and ideological. Furthermore, the writing and reading can be quite painful, disturbing, and can be enlightening as well. Whatever the result, the story will surely be sent to the rulers or “the British Empire” and tell the imperialists that what they are doing is wrong and how the western hegemony is very destructive and suppresses the cultural ideologies of those who are colonized.
