Material of Plastic Bottle One of the most popular material that have been used in making plastic bottle is Polyethelene terephthalate also known as PET PET is made up of two different chemical substances that undergo chemical reaction which are ethylene glycol and terepthalic acid which producing petroleum hyrocarbons In order to produce a plastic bottle, the polymerization of PET is needed to create long molecular chain terepthalic acid ethylene glycol 3

5. Notice or not the triangle symbol with numbers at the bottom of the plastic beverage bottle section We used to believe those numbers represented how many times they could be used. But, what is the meaning of those symbol 5

6. Those symbols are actually represented the material and different type of polymer used in making the product. The symbol also tell about the safety of the material used in the product. There are 7 numbers which every number indicates different polymer 6

Produced by polymerization of ethylene glycol and terephtalic acid Ethylene glycol known as colourless liquid obtained from ethylene while terephtalic acid is a crystalline solid obtained from xylene When ethylene glycol and terephtalic acid are heated together with the presence of catalyst, it will produced PET in the form of molten , viscous mass that can be spun directly to fibres or solidified for later processing as a plastic Chemical Composition 8
