Equation of a Circle -Standard Form- The fixed-point C is the center of the circle, and the fixed distance r is called the radius. Note that r is the undirected distance from the center C to any point P on the circle. Hence, the value of r is a nonnegative real number or r>0.   In figure 1, ; r 2 = x 2 + y 2   The standard form of equation of a circle with center at the origin (0,0) and r the radius is r 2 = x 2 + y 2 .   In figure 2, ; r 2 = (x - h) 2 + (y - k) 2   The standard form of equation of a circle with center at (h, k) and r the radius is r 2 = (x - h) 2 + (y - k) 2 .

Aplaya living within the 5 km radius critical area to evacuate due to eminent flood. On the map that is drawn on a coordinate plane, the coordinates corresponding to the location of the flood is (-3, -5).

Guide Questions: a. If each unit on the coordinate plane is equivalent to 1 km, what is the equation of the circle enclosing the critical area? b. Suppose you live at point (0,-2). Would you follow the advice of the DDRRMC? Why? c. In times of eminent disaster, what precautionary measures should you take to be safe? d. Suppose you are the leader of a two-way radio team with 15 members that is tasked to give warnings to the residents living within the critical area. Where would you position each member of the team who is tasked to inform the other members as regards the current situation and to warn the residents living within his/her assigned area? Explain your answer.
