3. So what is Maths? According to the Oxford learners dictionary mathematics is “the study of numbers and shapes”. The mathematician Benjamin Peirce called mathematics "the science that draws necessary conclusions". Albert Einstein, on the other hand, stated that "as far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality."

4. Archimedes is known as the Father of Mathematics. Mathematics is one of the ancient sciences developed in time immemorial. Since the beginning of recorded history, mathematical discovery has been at the forefront of every civilized society, and math has been used by even the most primitive and earliest cultures.  It is the universal language that helps us describe and understand the relationships between different elements in the world. From basic arithmetic to advanced calculus, math provides tools for solving problems, making predictions, and exploring the underlying order in the universe. Nowadays, we consider it an interdisciplinary language. Biologists, linguists, and sociologists alike use math in their work. It is reflected in our everyday lives. For instance, we often need it to calculate how much our groceries cost and managing expenses. Simply put, mathematics is a universal instrument for problem-solving. Cooking involves measurements, and mathematics helps us understand the science behind cooking. Many students say,” I hate mathematics and that Math is a useless subject, but it is wrong as without it your life becomes tough to survive. Math has its applications in every field. One cannot imagine a world without Math. We are all familiar with the prodigious father of Mathematics: ‘Archimedes’. The origins of mathematical thought lie in the concepts of number, patterns in nature, magnitude, and form. An issue such as a student has to find the hypotenuse of a right triangle with angle 20° and opposite side 5 feet is not immediately relevant to real life, whereas a word problem asking how much rope is needed to secure a tent evidently relates to real life. Math is useful in a variety of everyday and specialized contexts. In addition to everyday math, mathematics is used in physics, engineering, and data analysis

Whether buying coffee or a car, basic principles of math are in play. Purchasing decisions require some understanding of budgets and the cost and affordability of items from groceries to houses. Moreover, Students' career options will be limited if they do not have a solid foundation in math. Musical rhythm often follows complex mathematical series, and math can help students learn the basic rhythms of dances used in ballet and theatre performances. In a nutshell, mathematics has been an effective guide for centuries and will abide among those math lovers.

18. YES this is based on a real life story! "Retired couple used math to crack lottery code and win $26 million" Jerry Selbee figured out how to legally win lotteries in Michigan a few years ago. How? It was all about the roll down. What is a roll down? In Michigan's WinFaII lottery, if there was no grand prize winner that matched all six numbers from a field of 49 on aticket and a jackpot limit was reached. Then instead of letting the jackpot grow, the lottery "rolled down" to give the next tier of players a chance to win. Instead of having to match all the numbers on a ticket, a winner would only need to match five, four or even three numbers to be a winner.

The retired Selbee had also earned a mathematics degree from Western Michigan University Selbee knew that as the odds of winning increased, the ease of calculating a match also increased. And finally after nine years, the Selbees had grossed over $27 million in winning tickets - for a net profit of $7.75 million before taxes.
