sikkim Sikkim is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. Part of the Himalayas, the area has a dramatic landscape that includes India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kangchenjunga. Sikkim is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of wildflowers. Steep paths lead to hilltop Buddhist monasteries such as Pemayangtse , which dates to the early 1700s.

Population of sikkim  Sikkim is one of the smallest states in India both in terms of population and area. The present population of Sikkim stands at 6.79 Lakhs as compared to last year figure of 6.90 Lakhs in 2023. According to Population Census of India, the total population of Sikkim was estimated to be 689,741 in 2023. Located near Himalayas in India, Sikkim is India's least populated state with just over 670,000 people living here. After Goa, Sikkim is the smallest state in India covering a total area of 7,096 km2 (2,740 sq mi).

Religion of sikkim The predominant religions are  Hinduism and Vajrayana Buddhism . Sikkim's economy is largely dependent on agriculture and tourism. As of 2019, the state had the fifth-smallest GDP among Indian states, although it is also among the fastest-growing.

Height of mountains in sikkim Sikkim's most globally significant feature, however, is likely the mountain of Kangchenjunga, the third tallest peak on Earth and, of course, the tallest and most prominent of Sikkim's 58 named peaks, towering at  8,586m/28,169ft  tall with a prominence of 3,919m/12,857ft.
