Bijamrut
INDEX Introduction Components of Natural Farming Bijamrut Procedure Use Role Advantage Challenges
Bijamrut is an ancient, sustainable agriculture technique. It is used for seeds, seedlings or any planting material . It is effective in protecting young roots from fungus . Bijamrut :- Bijamrut is a fermented microbial solution , with loads of plant-beneficial microbes, and is applied as seed treatment . It is expected that the beneficial microbes would colonize the roots and leaves of the germinating seeds and help in the healthy growth of the plants.
Bijamrut is used for treating seeds and also effective in young roots protection . The process includes treatment of seed using cow dung, urine and lime based formulations.
Ingredients Quantity Cow Dung 5 Kilograms Cow Urine 5 Litres Limestone or Lime 50 gram Water 20 Litres Seed 100 Kilograms Soil ( prefer soil around Banyan tree roots ) 50 grams Ingredients For Bijamrut :- For treating 100 Kilograms of seed you will need the following ingredient.
Procedure :- Take 5.0 kg fresh cow dung in cotton cloth and dip it in water. The soluble elements in the dung will be dissolved in water. In another separate vessel take 100 g lime and add 1 lit. water in it. Keep it for 12-16 hours. The Solid portion of the cow dung will be separated by squeezing it and in this solution add 5.0 lit cow urine +1 lit. lime water +50 g soil (forest uncultivated soil) + 20 lit. water. Keep this mixture for 12-16 hours. Filter it and it can be used for seed treatment.
Preparation of Bijamrut
The Bijamrut is mainly used for seed treatment . Seed treatment for seed germination , because during the germination many diseases may attack in the germination stage. The seeds soaked with bijamrut are controlling the seed disease , which increases seed germination. Use Of Bijamrut

Collect seeds to be treated in a cotton cloth. Stir the solution once again clockwise before using for seed treatment. Dip the bundle of seeds in bijamrut solution and place there upto it gets completely soak in solution. After that remove the bundle of seeds and dry in shady area. Avoid direct sunlight and rainfall over it. OR Add bijamrut to the seeds of any crop as a seed treatment; coat them, combine or mix them by hands; dry well and use for sowing. For Seeds :-
Chemical Properties of Bijamrut pH 8.2 EC 5.5 ds/m
Role of Bijamrut Naturally occurring beneficial microorganisms are found in cow dung. These microorganisms are cultured in the form of bijamrut and applied to the seeds as inoculum . It is reported that seed treatment with bijamrut protects the crop from harmful soil-borne pathogens and also helpful in producing IAA and GA.
Benefits of bijamrut Improves the pH of the soil. It is an excellent source of carbon, Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium, and other essential micronutrients. It increases the microbial count and useful bacteria in the soil.
Advantages of Bijamrut Acts as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral for diseases. It is such one organic product which is helpful in plant growth . It plays important role to promote germination. Complete seed Rejunivator . Roots Protector . It can add strength to nursery plants during transplantation.
