Introduction & Definition Around 1960’s when the automation started to emerge as a need to grow faster, concept of Flexible Manufacturing system (hereon we will refer it as FMS) also comes into picture. In the developing stages of FMS, the term “ MECHATRONICS ” was first coined by “ Mr. Tetsuro Moria ” a senior engineer in Japanese company “ YASWAKA ” in 1969 . What is MECHATRONICS? The word is composed from two separate words – “MECHANISM’s” (MECHA) and “ELECTRONICS” (TRONICS). Thus – MECHANISM ELECTRONICS MECHA TRONICS MECHATRONICS
