Initial Plan I've chosen to make music video for the song White Ferrari. The video will portray a boy and his emotions after a breakup. I will be using the A24 movies 'Waves' and 'Moonlight' as inspiration for the cinematography. I will be making a storyboard of the different shots. I will mostly be using candid shots, as I want the music video to be more cinematic. I will be using iMovie for the video editing.
Waves Waves is an American A24 2019 drama movie that I've decided to study it as I find that many of the shots, and the cinematic style that it uses is very relevant to what I would like to produce. The cinematographer for this movie is a man named Drew Daniels. I believe his style and the aesthetic is very interesting and effective, I would like to implement it in my music video I find it particularly interesting due to the consistent use of strong colours in the movie, which I think add an interesting effect. I also like the huge contrast between being isolated and being with someone, that I believe allows both states to be emphasised.
Waves Waves tends to use isolated environments as well as colourful lighting very often within the movie to convey the characters emotions further, I find both stylistic approaches very effective. For these particular images these elements are used to convey sadness, isolation and contemplation. The image on the left shows the character, seemingly in a state of contemplation sitting on his own. The use of shallow depth of field helps emphasise isolation as it causes the viewer to ignore everything else around him and creates clarity purely for his body. What I like about this scene is that it uses warm colours in the orange shining across him, which contrasts with his cold and lost expression. A similar effect is created in the second picture; however, it uses a completely different colour palette and environment. The neon and bright colours around him contrast with the dark and distorted expression. I will take inspiration from the body language used

Best Part - Influences This music video will heavily influence the environments I intend on showing in my music video, as I will centre a lot of the scenes around beach environments, as well as sunsets. I also like how H.E.R is silhouetted, particularly in combination with the colours shown in the mise en scene, and I intend on using a similar affect in some of the scenes in my music video. The idea of the music video only showing the boy and girl is also interesting, as I believe it exaggerates the narrative element of the piece, and I will probably only include a boy and a girl as the characters in my music video.
