MIASMATIC PRESCRIBING: Miasmatic treatment involves selecting a homeopathic remedy that matches the individual's miasmatic tendency with the help of a properly prepared case sheet followed by an unprejudiced approach to derive totality of the symptoms of a particular patient by following the principles narrated in Organon. There is no shortcut to obtain a real cure i.e. restore the health of the patient.

Constitutional Assessment: By evaluating the patient's overall constitution, taking into account physical, mental, and emotional aspects. Constitutional assessment helps identify the individual's unique predispositions and potential miasmatic influences. Symptom Patterns : By analyzing the specific symptoms and patterns of illness experienced by the patient., like that are recurring patterns or certain types of diseases that indicate a possible miasmatic influence. 4

In some cases, recurrence of symptoms despite treatment may indicate an underlying miasmatic influence. Families with a history of cancer or serious heart problems require four to five years of miasmatic treatment. In more complex cases, where miasms are mixed, the treatment may extend to 10 years. Sometimes, this treatment may leave both doctor and patient confused and frustrated, wondering where the case is leading to. In such cases the anti miasmatic treatment should continue for a minimum of 10 years. If couples undergo this treatment before having children, their offspring will have fewer miasmatic effects. However, if they have children prior to the miasmatic treatment, two more generations will require treatment to eliminate miasms . 5

Alertness is a most important factor as the physician should not fall in the routine practice, while treating the cases. He should be constantly aware about the philosophy of Homoeopathy and Organon. When he follows the method given in organon there will be no failure. He should not have any opinions upon any drugs or patients . He should be able to select the similar remedy to the patient in similar potency. At the same time he should not think that some remedies or some potencies will suit to a particular condition of the patient. Surprisingly, either a low potency or a higher potency may cure the patient completely. He should not be conditioned with the ideas like using only low potencies or using only high potencies. This is the way how the physician should diagnose the patient, correctly in the language of remedies, but not in the language of disease – What will be the outcome if the above process is followed? I will narrate the symptoms and the treatment: Mrs. D.P aged 30 approached me on 20-5-81. The symptoms of Mrs. D.P. are: - She was having a history of fits of the type of hysteria characteristic of sudden weeping and then a fit. Fear complex and worry followed after an anticipation of accident or something bad to the husband whenever he was late returning home – since few months. Repeatedly she bows down before God with folded hands. After finishing pooja she feared if her foot touched God and she bowed down again and again. At every temple on her way she stopped and bowed down with apprehensive fear. Frequent washing of pooja vessels, with an impression that she put her feet on them. All these mental troubles started since 4-5 years. 9

( Of course, the husband observed family planning till two years ago). As she hears something relating to a serpent or found the word “Naga ” anywhere she was restless and tore the paper after which the restlessness came down. With effort she could control the impulse to kill anyone in the house found sleeping before she slept. High degree of irritability and anger which was controlled only after throwing off things or breaking them. Headache on vertex. Dim pain when thinking was more. During noon after a sleep her fear and anxiety were much more. Dreams - her mother’s ill health and death etc. that had happened five years ago. 10

Mental symptoms aggravated when she was alone. No symptoms found in company. Fear and palpitation by seeing fire. Menses regular but scanty. (H) Tablets used previously for postponement of menses . She avoided visiting mother’s place and the house since the death of her mother. The reason was she grew nervous about it. (H) In her childhood they had land property and the father lost it through deception. Always expressed “It is better to die”. Our further enquiry I came to know that she stays alone at home. Daily from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. all the time brooding about these symptoms. I understood another point, that she found no one to express about herself. 11

She reported on 27-5-81 that her piles complaint reappeared ( suppressed many years back ) with slight bleeding. Maintained on Placebo for two weeks. On 14-6-81 reported that menstrual discharge was normal for the first time. (Which was scanty previously). Mental symptoms were better. Sleep better. Given Placebo for another 2 weeks. On 28-6-81 the mental symptoms reappeared. Repeated Staphisagria 10M and Placebo for four weeks. On 16-7-81 she got an attack of fit in our clinic. FP6x six tablets relieved her. As the old symptoms were reappearing, we understood that Staphisagria was the correct drug . Maintained on KM6x for 14 days.   12

She reported some more physical symptoms: Nausea, watery stool thrice a day, stomach-ache aggravated before passing stool. But mentally completely sane. Maintained on Placebo till 12-8-81. Again, mental symptoms started suddenly (she might have experienced shock mentally). I gave Staphisagria 50M one dose on 12-8-81 . Daily doses of Placebo were prescribed. 13

But some physicals developed . Blocking of nose in nights, used nasal drops previous night. Allergic dyspnoea by exposing to dust. No medication given - blocking of nose continued. On 27-8-81 NS6x daily doses were prescribed. This time the drug action did not sustain for many days. Mental symptoms relapsed on 5-9-81. I thought there was MIASM preventing the drug action. So, I gave one dose of Medorrhinum 1M. On 12-9-81 mental symptoms were better. Also blocking of nose was better. But complained headaches in the afternoon. Menses did not appear (due date was 5-9-81) Maintained on Placebo.   14

Again piles complaint reappeared. But all the other symptoms were better. Lecithin 6 daily doses for a week. On 26-9-81 reported nausea on seeing curd and buttermilk. Reeling sensation in the mornings. Alfalfa for one week. Better next week. Lecithin 6 for two weeks. 28-10-81 pregnancy of 3rd month confirmed . Vomitings every morning. Urine yellow. Stuffing up of nose more. Lachesis 30 one dose. On 4-11-81 loose motions with colic. MP6x relieved. Daily MP6x in the morning and Alfalfa one dose in the night. On 5-12-81 reported that she got slight mental tension. Given Medorrhinum 200 one dose continued daily tonics as usual. 15

Repeated Medorrhinum 200 and continued the daily doses. Again, repeated Medorrhinum 200 on 28-1-82. Now she entered into 8th month. No mental symptoms. B.P. normal. No physical troubles. Daily we are giving MP6x at night and Alfalfa in the morning. We expect normal and easy delivery. This is a very peculiar psychic case I saw in my experience. Learnings out of this case: Ill effects of suppressions. Choose a drug and maintain the case on that, until unless it is emergency to give some remedies. Here we need to understand that whether these symptoms were there in the past and were suppressed? If it is so, wait and see – maintain with biochemics , MTs and non- miasmatic non deep remedies indicated.. Go for anti- miasmatic drug suiting to their constitution, when no response is there to the indicated remedy or recurrence of symtpoms are seen. 16

In Aph 46 he says that a case of blindness was brought on 'for two years after the suppression of a scalp eruption.' In Aph 59 he talks of suppressing coughs with Opium '..in its primary action it suppresses all irritation...if the physician continues to suppress it with increasingly strong doses of this palliative, fever and night sweats are added to the disturbance.' In Aph 69 he states that 'the palliative remedy makes the vital force insensible to the natural disease...' In Aph 185-206 he discusses at length with many examples the horrors of treating 'local diseases' using internal and external drugs in various doses as a great folly and entirely un-homeopathic. 17

If it does no good there is no use in using it. If it cures it does so by healing up the external disease before the internal one is cured and thereby leaving no opportunity for the internal disease to come out. The healthier the patient becomes the more likelihood there is for an eruption upon the skin. The vital energies must be sufficient for this. A cure progresses from within outward.' 'It would seem that the most natural thing to do is to remove external obstructions, but I warn you, anything that comes from within must be treated from within.' [from his Lesser Writings] 18

19. www.masterek.org Master EK Spiritual and service mission Homoeo Conference 2023 Chronic Miasmatic diseases treated by Dr.E.V.M.Acharya based on the Principles of Organon Aphorism 246 :- During the period of progress in cure of a disease with a proper remedy, it is forbidden to administer any other remedy or to repeat another dose of the same remedy. The remedy properly administered helps in completing the cure. But this rule need not be followed in acute diseases. In chronic diseases often a properly selected remedy brings a total cure in many cases. Sometimes improvement in health may occur in a slow and steady manner. In such cases the same remedy completes its action Aphorism 247: - It is not advisable to administer a remedy repeatedly without increasing the potency. It is of no use to administer it repeatedly in short intervals. By administering a remedy in the same potency in short intervals there will be a wrong stimulation in the vital force . There is a possibility of the symptoms of that remedy to be established in the constitution after the symptoms of the disease are cured. The first dose administered brings out the necessary change in the constitution. The second dose instead of contacting the original vital force it comes into contact with that vital force which is already influenced by the first dose. Sometimes the repetition of a remedy may cause the reappearance of the disease which sometimes may cause more sickness.Otherwise , if the second dose is administered in a higher potency the vital force gets enhanced without any difficulty and the original disease will recede and thus cure is made possible easily. 19

I thought she was very old in age because she lost many teeth. But while writing the case she said that she was 30 years old and we are surprised. We understood that her constitution was in broken down condition. Her case was written in detail by Dr. O. Ramachandra Rao and the details were as follows: Present complaints: Pain in the vertebral column and body pains. Pain in the vertebral column started 4 years back along with pain in the waist. The pain was aggravated by getting up after lying and ameliorated while walking. 21

This started 4 years back and during pain she could not move. Since then, asthma relapsed. During attack she suffers from intense dry cough but no expectoration. For two years pain in the limbs. Could not exert or work. Always she suffered from weakness. Due to this weakness, she was getting vertigo while working and ameliorated by sitting for some time. Menstrual Cycle: - The cycle was once in 20 days. Sometimes it was delayed for 2 months. Discharge used to last for 5, 6 days. Stomach-ache before menses and it continued for 2 days of menses. The discharge on first day was red and later in pale colour. From 3rd day the discharge was with bad smell. 22

When exposed to cool air she suffered from coryza, cough and breathlessness. She was getting chills by even bathing in winter. After head bath she was getting dyspnoea, palpitation and anxiety. Appetite is less. She was suffering from stomach-ache after eating. So, she was eating a little only. Digestion disturbed since palpitation started. She could not digest rice and suffered from watery diarrhoea 4, 5 times a day. Sleep was disturbed. Sometimes felt melancholic that her heart trouble was incurable. With this she developed fear and anxiety. When she exerted to finish the work early, she developed anxiety and short breath. She could not get sufficient breath. It was not better even by fanning. 23

The pain was in the temples and on the top of the head. Nausea and sometimes vomiting of bile as long as she had headache. Sometimes food is also vomited. Always she craved for air. She was fond of asafoetida. History: - Infantile asthma at 3, 4 years age. Typhoid at 9 years age. After few days again suffered from paratyphoid and cured with allopathy. 3 years back once she fell unconscious and left clavicle was fractured. At early age she had dog bite with healthy dog. Suffered from intense blood dysentery at the age of 16 and lost much blood. She suffered from it for 6 months. Used homoeo , allopathy and some native medicines of village side and could not remember with which treatment it was cured. 24

Prior to it her teeth were normal. (It is due to mercury poisoning because of the base of the native medicines is mercury. It happened in many patients which is observed in clinical practice). Family history: Father died at 47 years with fever. Mother is alive but weak and suffering from asthma. One of her brothers was having congenital heart weakness and relieved with homoeopathy but still weak and suffers from attacks of syncope. She was experiencing much affection for father and felt much sick after his death. Operations history: She is mother of five children. After 4th delivery underwent family planning operation in 1976. After tubectomy she developed post operative hernia. 6 years back it was operated but relapsed. After this she had pregnancy due to the failure of tubectomy and delivered male child. After this she developed heart enlargement. Major disturbance in health started after family planning operation. This was her long history. 25

Husband is a peculiar person. He did not feel sympathy about the condition of this lady and did not even help in her work even when she was seriously ill. He was brutal in nature and could not feel the normal affections and sympathy. Even in that bad health and anaemic condition he forced her for daily sex enjoyment. It is not a fault but at least he should understand about her health. She was also with more desire. Her mother-in-law advised her son to remarry as this lady was sick and not fit for sex life. The members of her mother & father side were with tuberculous miasm . Two of her sons are Bufo patients (mentally retarded). This is possible in families where miasms are in complicated condition. 26

In her case the complexity of miasms , loss of strength due to over work, many deliveries, many surgical operations and mental strain for the behaviour of husband and his mother were the causes of ill health. We thought China, Staphisagria (bad effects of operations and suppressed mental), Aurum Met (melancholy, depression due to family worries and also because it is one of the important antidotes to mercury, as it was one of the causes in her case), Tuberculinum (hereditary factors and her present complexity of miasms ) and also Acid Phos were the group of remedies she needed. On 15-5-84 Dr. Anantha Krishna started the treatment with Staphisagria 30 one dose and Crataegus mother tincture daily. Repeated the drug in 200 on 17-6-84. 27

I gave her one dose of Acid Oxalic 30 and repeated on 27-6-84. The pain was better but other things were same. On 3-7-84 Staphisagria 200 was given. But again on 5-7-84 she complained pain in the chest and she said that she was getting it daily in the noon, on left side only. Dyspnoea by even little exertion. Dragging down feeling in pelvis. Pain in the chest with anxiety and aggravated by sitting. Sweats with weakness also present. Then I gave her China 30 one dose (5-7-84) and continued Crataegus daily and repeated on 28-7-84. She improved for the first time but on 17-8-84 she developed fever, chills, headache, body pains and coryza and relieved with Bryonia 200 one dose. 28

On 21-8-84 China 30 two doses were given as she was very weak. Lecithin 3x was given daily. China 200 was given on 23-8-84 and Lecithin was continued. On 10-9-84 she reported the following symptoms: When she went to her native place two days back, she fell unconscious there with giddiness. (It was both due to her anaemic condition and cardiac condition. Since then, she lost grip in the left hand and could not hold any article with that hand. It is paralytic condition of the hand. She also developed excess saliva, bitter taste and speech was very dull. This was one of the bad effects of mercury poisoning. This factor and also her present symptoms indicated Mercsol . So, I gave her 3 doses in 6 potency. 29

Bitter taste and saliva were better. But weakness and the condition of the left hand were same. On 14-9-84 Dr. Anantha Krishna gave her Lachesis 200 one dose. She improved well. Within 4, 5 days the hand regained normal condition. Lachesis suited to that situation and it is also one of the antidotes to Mercury. The drug was repeated on 28-9-84, 16-10-84 and 14-11-84 with Alfalfa daily. (Generally Lachesis is not repeated so frequently) She improved till 14-12-84, but again started getting the asthmatic attack with cough. Dr. Anantha Krishna gave Bacillinum 30 one dose. Acute condition was better. Again Lachesis 200 was given on 22-12-84 and 31-12-84. She improved in some respects with our treatment, but symptoms were changing because the miasmatic condition was deep. Her remaining two or three teeth turned blue, which might be due to syphilitic miasm or mercury poisoning. 30

I gave her Digitalis 30 one dose and repeated on 30-1-85. Heart condition improved. Pulse better. Dyspnoea better. Daily Lecithin 6 was given. After the treatment the pains in vertebral column and body pains were relieved fully. Chest pain also better. Appetite improved could exert little more. But no improvement in body weight. Mentally she continued to be dull and melancholic. She did not have laugh any time in her face all this time. She did not talk to anyone with happiness. So much change still should come in her. She could withstand cold to little extent after the treatment. Lachesis, China and Digitalis could cure in certain aspects and those symptoms did not reappear. 31

It was confirmed as pregnancy by the lady doctor. I was surprised to their nature. As she was a heart patient and also had hernia, I advised to undergo abortion as she might grow worse if it continued. I advised her to approach surgeon for hernia operation also. Surgeon refused to conduct operation due to her condition. So, she underwent abortion and returned to our treatment. As she was weak due to abortion China 30 was given on 21-4-85, 28-4-85, 5-5-85, 12-5-85 and 19-5-85 with Acid Phos 6 daily. She improved. Basing on her mental symptoms (as there was no change in them till that time) I administered Aur. Met 1M one dose on 26-5-85 and repeated on 25-7-85 and 10M was given on 11-8-85 with Crataegus mother tincture and Lecithin 6 in the remaining days. 32

Physically also she improved in weight a little but no marked change. China 30 two doses were used for acute complaints in the middle. Due to cold weather, she developed cough and occasional phlegm but no asthmatic attacks this year. On 17-9-85 Dr. Anantha Krishna gave Ant. Tart 30 one dose. As there was no change and developed coldness of body, weakness, sweats and craving for air he administered Carbo Veg 30 on 18-9-85, after which she improved. 33

Ignatia 30 was given on 10th as the cough reappeared. On 17th she reported that she was getting skin eruptions. (It is a good sign which indicates that she was improving constitutionally). The remedy was repeated on 28-11-85 and 200 was given on 3-12-85. She reported that she had a craving for raw rice eating since long time which she could not control. Of course, Ignatia has craving for many unwanted things. So, I did not change the drug. Later two or three doses of Podophyllum 30 needed as she suffered from diarrhoea. She is better Ignatia 200 was repeated on 27-3-86, 17-4-86, 12-5-86, 25-6-86 and 1M was given on 18-7-86. On 28-9-86 she reported that even after 20 days menstrual discharge was continuing and felt little weak. This was relieved with a dose of Pulsatilla 30. 34

This is very interesting case to treat because her constitution was broken down due to many reasons. Actually, cure is impossible in those cases excepting in homoeopathy, that too when followed the systematic procedure of miasmatic treatment. She should continue the treatment for at least another one or two years for complete cure, Otherwise the symptoms may relapse. The body was lean, weak and stoop shouldered. Mother said that he was living with medicines only since his birth, i.e., in the last 15 years. Tried homoeo also for nearly two years, but there was no marked change in his health. Since beginning for every two or three months he was getting fevers with a reading of 102 or 104°F. Many doctors were changed but there was no improvement. Some doctors diagnosed as primary complex, some others said that it was due to phlegm in the lungs but not primary complex. On 21-8-86 he reported that he was getting itching of the skin. Other symptoms were better. Few doses of Hypericum 200 were used for some external injuries in the meanwhile. His health improved much. Later for any acute ailments one dose of Tuberculinum was relieving him. So, this was his constitutional drug. For the first time in his life, he could live without medicines. With the same drug many worms were passed with stool at the end of the treatment. Routine prescribers in homoeo generally think of Cina for worms. But it is true that the indicated and constitutional remedy can cure all the conditions. Aphorism 147: Hahnemann explains the need for patience and perseverance in the treatment of chronic diseases. He advises against frequent changes of remedies, urging the physician to allow sufficient time for the prescribed remedy to act and for the healing process to unfold.

Acharya: Here is a case of high blood pressure with intense headache. In any case we should treat according to the totality only. Unless we treat the person even though the blood pressure is under control the person suffers from sickness. So simply prescribing medicines to put the pressure under control is not treatment. The case details of this case are given below. He was 36 years old, average in height, with bald head and good complexion. Complaints: Headache since 1984. It was aggravated in the afternoon, evening, after exertion and ameliorated by rest. His blood pressure was found to be high and doctors said it was the cause of headache. Pain was more in occiput and he felt heaviness in the head during pain. 44

On 30-6-85 I started the treatment with Hyoscyamus 200 one dose and Alfa Alfa daily. On 21-7-85 though there was little improvement in headache, B.P was 130/100 mm of Hg. The systolic reading is less but diastolic increased 90 to 100. Increase of diastolic pressure is not good. The RS Q (Rauwolfia Serpentina) was given daily three doses. Hyoscyamus 200 was repeated on 22-9-85 as he reported that libido was less. 46

Due to official camps, he discontinued and came on 2-12-85 and blood pressure was 154/110 mm of Hg. Then I gave him Nux Vomica 200 one dose and NM3x was given daily one dose. Then he started getting real betterment. Continued NM3x daily twice. On 15-12-85 he reported that libido was less and was getting headache again. 47

When these two are eliminated, the remaining diseases that occur in others are the real chronic diseases. They are only three, i.e., Psora, Syphillis and Sycosis, Each one of these occupies the constitution completely and spreads to all parts. Then only the symptoms are manifested - (scabies in psora, inflammation of glands in groins and warts in sycosis). If these localised skin diseases would not have existed, these chronic diseases would have spread with innumerable sufferings without even being named, into the mankind and afflicting it for hundreds and thousands of years through generations. Frequent headache, both sides, generally after going to movies. Disturbed sleep. She used to scream during sleep. She did not care about neatness. Least interest for studies, interested to see movies. Very irregular in attending school. More interested in games. Very naughty. When contradicted she used to bite her lip. 51

Mother grew restless stating that there was no change about warts. Then I explained the homoeopathic law, that cure will be first in the mental plane, and lastly in the physical plane. In a few weeks warts started falling. By 3-1-82, she was free from all warts. The mother was happy to see her daughter without warts. In this case, there was no use of Thuja, as the routinists think. Understand the case in a homoeopathic manner and treat according to Law of Similars . 53

When the tendency to grow warts is not cured, the person may have new crops again and again. In Homoeopathy, many specify Thuja as the remedy for warts. No doubt, Thuja can cure warts, when the person belongs to Thuja. There are no specifics in Homoeopathy for any ailment. When it is not a Thuja case, even one ton of Thuja can’t cure the person. Every Homoeopath should understand system through the eyes of Dr. Hahnemann, Kent, Hering etc., who were the pioneers of Homoeopathy. But it is to be observed as to what are the evil effects of this.
